Because it is against Islam to force people to revert to Islam. Muslims have a duty to tell non muslims about Islam. What they do with that information is up to them.

Your complaint is genuine. Muslims who didn't do their job earlier in your life will be questioned by God and may be punished on the Day of Judgment.
Also one accepts Islam only when God gives guidance to the person towards truth. Often Muslims preach and preach and non-Muslim don't want to learn until there time to convert doesn't come.
There is also a positive side for your late conversion. All the wrong doings you may have done before you converted are now forgiven after your conversion. You are now wise and devoted Muslimah. You will now do lots of good deeds and will derserve Jannah. You should be happy.
