I am easily distracted, particularly by noise. If someone is talking to me and a radio or tv is on, I lock in on the radio/tv. At the movies, I lock in on the popcorn eating and not the movie. At work, I am distracted by loud typists and people clicking their pens. I hate this about myself! I am also a procrastinator. In college, I couldn't write a paper until my whole apt was clean, my checkbook balanced, etc. At work, i don't make calls until I check all my email accounts, check the headlines, etc. Several years ago I got tested for ADD and was told that while I exhibited many symptoms, I did not have ADD/ADHD bcs my grades were always too good. If I *truly* had ADD/ADHD, I would have failed grades or been fired from jobs. I've been told to see a psychologist to get re-tested, but they are expensive and I don't have much money and I have a very high deductible. What alternatives do I have? Please, no martial arts or breathing answers. Thanks.

Actually ADD/ADHD people are very intelligent. I have ADD but refuse to take all those medicines because of the terrible side effects. I went to a herbal doctor and she gave me some supplements for Adrenral pills. I have been on them for about 3 mths now and they work wonders, I was soo shocked to know that supplements could do so much better after all those years being on various meds. the problem with ADD /ADHD is our minds work faster than we can handle and if you get something that can slow your mind down then you can do wonders.

Just as above, most people that have ADD /ADHD smoke pot to slow their minds down

You could have OCD, since you say you have a compulsion to do things a certain way all of the time.

I know you said you dont' have a lot of cash, and a high deductable on your insurance, but is risking your health and driving yourself nuts over this worth neglecting the problem?

For me, it would not be worth it.

I don't know how to convince you that it's not important to have everything cleaned up before you study.... i can't make you stop checking your email before you make phone calls.

I think your best bet is to take care of YOUR HEALTH and seek professional help. This appears to be affecting your daily living.
