I work in the ER as an admitting specialist, so I deal with nurses all day. It drives me crazy when nurses get "burnt out". You can easily spot the ones who just don't give a crap anymore and act like they've seen it all. Some of them don't even look at the patients while they're talking and make them feel like they shouldn't have come in at all because they don't feel like they're even being cared for properly. If you're going to be a nurse, make sure you don't get burned out. Nurses are very lucky because they can switch departments all the time. There's always a demand for them and if you continue to switch it up, you won't get bored and stop caring.
