You believe in what the bible tells you right?
So let me quote your good book to you....
"Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away."
"Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them despitefully use you, and persecute you"
So, unless you are lying hypocrites, you should obey this teaching, right?
So what is with all the thumbs down you people give to answers that you don't agree with?

You are absolutely right. As Christians we should yield ourselves totally to the Holy Spirit who will lead us to live as Christ taught.
Unfortunately, Christians past and present have either misinterpreted, misunderstood, or ignored the plain teachings of Jesus as you have quoted.
I thank God, though, that we can repent and are already forgiven by the shed blood of Christ, that is the finished work He did on the cross. I also thank God for second chances, second chances to get it right.

New scholarship being taught in seminaries today lends a different view on that saying --Along the lines of turning your cheek away, following the direction away from impact, so that you don't suffer the blow as harshly while simultaneously throwing your enemy off balance as the expected impact for which they are braced is weakened.
If that is true, it will greatly impact how Christians perceive persecutions and how they react to it (more proactively).
But beyond that and in response to your anger about getting thumbs down, I don't give thumbs down to answers I disagree with, but I DO give thumbs down to answers that are not fact-based, show a personal bigotry and bias, or that are simply sarcastic.
But even if I disagree with an answer, sometimes I give a thumbs up if the answer is reasonable, rational and well thought out, or simply just very witty and clever.
Sorry if your answers haven't been in those categories.

Psa 97:10 Ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.
Pro 6:16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
Pro 6:17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
Pro 6:18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
Pro 6:19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

Yes we are to live by what you have quoted, but we can still show our dislike in the responses we see on yahoo. Now to give a thumbs down just because one is an atheist is wrong. I give thumbs up and down to atheists and Christians and whomever. My decision to give a rating is based on the answer, not on that person's beliefs.
The South Park episode is purely disgusting. And to choose the date they did to air the episode was plain disrespect to Catholics. I am not a Catholic, but I am a Christian, and this episode is unwarranted. Yes, everyone has freedom of speech. We also have freedom of religion. We should respect everyone's values. This episode was just wrong.

My interpretation of your quote is simply not to revenge or to stay anrgy at someone who hurt you. From my (not very big) life experience I can say it's healthier.
Be happy when you receive many thumbs down in this section , it means you are right and that you provoked a few stupid people (like i probably will get now)

The Church is not a building,if you understand the word of God. It is a people. 1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen people, a royal preisthood,a holy nation,a people belonging to God that we may declare the praises of him who called us out of darkness into his wonderful light.

hmmm you are another who doesn't read the bible as a whole.
Jesus was angered at those who didn't pay attention to the truth. HE even chased out moneychangers from the church.
There is always a balance.
Solomon says there is a time for war and a time for peace.
Why can't we disagree? Jesus disagreed with most of the priests of His day and said so.

I bless you. I bless the atheists who give me thumbs down for every remark that I make.
I bless you for the reports that you make on all of the Christians here just because you hate all of us so much.
God expects us to keep the laws of the land. He says so in The Bible.
What is it with all of the thumbs down you give to Christians for no other reason than that we are Christians?
What's with that? Where is the open-mindedness?
Where is the goodness and truthfulness in that?
Where is the acceptance and love for all of mankind that you profess to have?

We are not perfect...but we are forgiven. Sometimes people make the wrong choice. And in an eternal view does Yahoo Answer's "thumbs down" really matter?
