The only attempt made to create an actual atheist state was by Albania under communist rule. Russia and China didn't even try to force people to accept atheism and have often been known to support religious groups even under communist rule (though neither country is communist any more).
There has been a lot of suppression of religion in communist nations but that is not because the communists wanted to promote atheism but because those religions were seen as threats to the communist party and it's power.
Communism though shares a lot more similarities with Christianity than it does with the world-view most of the people who call themselves atheists have.

Sorry are we just refering to atheism or can I mention the fact that America is the only nation to have obliterated innocent by dropping a nuclear bomb in the name of world peace? not to mention the napalm in vietnam to hold off the rise of communism oh right well it doesn`t matter that innocent children died then, was not your last question about abortion? well again I say wwe should not judge and as Christ said "give unto ceaser what is ceasers" if the world is fall under communist rule then by the power and grace of god we will survive it don`t you think?

"Guilt by association" is a fallacy (here you are improperly associating atheism with communism). Therefore, your question is misleading. Thus, any attempt at an answer would be misguided.
