Or that the Holy Spirit (whatever that is) has "filled/touched their hearts"?

Are they delusional freaks or outright liars?

Because of the evolution of our massive thinking brain, humans have the capacity to experience different states of consciousness, and based on their conditioning, they interpret it in many different ways. Personifying a deity is the most accepted, socialized way to think about it.

Our subconscious beliefs (about self/world), embedded during early development, control perception, thoughts and actions, as well as early emotionally-charged experiences are stored in body chemistry and subsequently retriggered by threatening experiences, whether real or not. Our holographic reality mirrors what we believe is true through patterns of events that replicate the original 'defining' moments. When people become trapped in miserable patterns - oblivious that their own minds are the source of the experience - and suddenly become unconflicted about wanting to be 'saved' from the suffering, reality aligns with that unconflicted state of consciousness. It is the meeting place of biology, psychology and physics and it can be experienced without any understanding of what is actually happening.

All religious adepts have understood it to some degree and attempted to explain how to stabilize this state of consciousness. But, for most people it is simply to difficult to grasp and religion deteriorates into simple-minded moralizing and belief in miracles.

i'm relatively sorry I have been given right here so previous due for this question! i'm rather inspired with the eloquence with which you have controlled to summarize that which looks to have a large number of of the honest perplexed previous reason (yeah, I comprehend I purely used "reason" interior an identical sentence as "the honest"; I have faith you will forgive that transgression). I constantly rejoice with it while there's a reaction to something like this to the effect of: "seem on the international around you and you will discover evidence of god's life".... we are observing the international around us; it relatively is strictly by way of fact we seem heavily at our international that we've come to doubt any team that asserts it grew to become into all "poofed" into life by making use of the want of a few all efficient creature. There are completely sound medical motives to all organic phenomenon with no need to invoke fairy memories. i think of my sought after quote on the concern comes from Douglas Adams: “Isn’t it sufficient to make certain that a backyard is captivating with no need to have self belief that there are fairies on the backside of it too?” the burden of evidence does lie with those making the declare, no longer with those denying that declare. i'm able to purely tutor gods inexistence to an identical quantity that i'm able to tutor the inexistence of Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, or Humpty Dumpty. faith could have served a purpose at one think approximately our early historic previous, yet we now no longer ask your self on the resource of lightning; all of us be attentive to greater appropriate than to objective and appease a volcano..... faith is little greater now than a divider of the human race; a final haven for the bigoted, the delusional, and the hateful.

There is usually an understanding or explanation for their claims, you just have to have the "stuff" to get to the depth of it so it makes more sense. Everybody understands things according to their karma and causes/conditions of their lives, and it will change as do their causes and conditions, or not. It's not a big deal if what they believe teaches them altruism, wisdom and compassion.

As long as I'm not bothering you, why does it matter?
I am a good person.
Does it make you feel good about yourself to make fun of people who don't believe the same thing as you do?
Most atheists are tolerant and are accepting. I hope that one day you will become like that.

It is very unkind of anyone to call me a liar when I say that God speaks to me. That is an insult to my character.
You have no clue whether he does or not.

Have a great day!

Everyone has an inner monologue.

For some reason some people just decide that one of those inner voices speaking to them is "God".

That doesn't make it true though.

both

for example I recently spoke to someone online who is convinced that the holy spirit really does talk to him and tells him that his (mormon) belief is the right one.

Which must mean that anyone who says that god or the holy spirit or whatever tells them that their belief is the right one is either lying or delusional

Unless they have a specific medical condition, I think they heard it because that's what they wanted to hear. People can convince themselves of pretty much anything. Or maybe Dick Cheney was just whispering to them.

Most say it to add weight to the myths they believe in. How is anyone going to prove you're lying?

The ones that truly believe a god talks to them scare the hell out of me. When you believe that the voices in your head are a god and you must obey, you have crossed a dangerous line where your sanity is concerned.

i think it is true in alot of cases. people can not understand the holy spirit by trying to figure it out if you have a close everyday relationship with God that is #1 in your life only then can you understand what their talking about. It's like neil armstong could tell me what it was like on the moon but i could never realy understand unless i went there myself.
