I heard that you should not use bleach on dentures if they have metal in them, because it would turn the metal black. Is this true? Mostly I am wondering if I can use bleach without causing damage.

The bleach will not change the color of the teeth as much as it will affect the pink acrylic that the teeth sit in and turn it white. If the teeth are getting stained try soaking them in some of the OTC stain removers for dentures, otherwise contact your dentist, they have some great stain removers and can clean up your dentures much more safely and affectively.

Well, I don't know about turning the metal black but I've seen plenty of dentures with the acrylic turned white from bleach. So don't worry about it if you don't mind white gums.

How old are your dentures and what are you currently using to clean them.

I brush mine with dish washing liquid and soak them over night in a commercial denture cleanser. Mine are about 6 years old and as far as I can tell they are not stained and look showroom new! I do not drink coffee or smoke.

FYI THE BLEACH WILL NOT HURT THE METAL, BUT IT WILL CHANGE THE APPERANCE OF THE PINK ACRYLIC AND ALSO GIVE IT WITH AN AFTERTASTE.
THE DENTIST HAS AN ULTRASONIC CLEANING MACHINE AND SAFE COMPOUNDS TO GET THE STAINS OUT. IF YOU USE BLEACH YOU WILL NOT GET WHAT YOU EXPECT.
