Why do you JUDGE, report or give thumbs down to those that, as you say, mock your god?

Why, have you run out of other cheeks or what?

The hostility of some of you makes me think that, after all, you're not so sure about your final destination, dudes...

I expect a lot of "I don't hate you/God bless you" responses...but you guys know what I'm talking about.

New scholarship being taught in seminaries today lends a different view on that saying --Along the lines of turning your cheek away, following the direction away from impact, so that you don't suffer the blow as harshly while simultaneously throwing your enemy off balance as the expected impact for which they are braced is weakened.

I think that is interesting, and if it is true will have a great impact on the way Christians perceive and react to persecution. But it is just a theory.

I don't have hostility when I think someone really wants debate or information. But hey, I am human, and if someone is personally insulting me only based upon my being a believer, then I will challenge that person's agenda and bigotry.

Usually verbally, though, not too often with a "thumbs down."

If they are mocking God (and very often they are) then I am trusting that God will deal with that in God's own way and time.

Have a great day and I hope you get satisfactory answers to your question (variation on the expected theme).

For clarification: "other cheek" was a response to insults, not a command to be floor mats or push overs. Being meek does not mean not standing up for oneself.

Another clarification: there is a difference between "making judgments" and "being judgmental". Making a judgment is coming to a decision based upon available information (eg: the building is burning, get out; the individual is drunk/high, he might kill someone if he drives; indeed - exercising good judgment is necessary for survival). Being judgmental is looking down noses, being bigoted, having a haughty spirit, having a superiority complex, etc. One is a determination based upon (often imperfect) information; the other is an attitude. Big difference.

And no, we will not have "the last laugh". There will be great sorrow among Christians at the judgment when our lives are essentially inventoried for failures and successes. We will be fully aware of the family members and friends that will spend eternity in separation from heavenly fellowship. There will be weeping, regrets, sorrow, and great pain until the Lord Himself wipes away all tears. But no, we will not be laughing at the eternal downfall of others.

Because sometimes it just gets really old to be told for the hundredth time that God isn't real and that I am a moron for believing it. I see nothing harsh in giving someone a thumbs-down for a statement like that. It's called freedom of expression and I have it just like you do.

How come you want to be able to dish out the hate and judgmentalism towards us and we should just sit there and take it without a word of protest? It sounds like you just don't want to be told off for being rude. Don't dish it out if you can't take it.

And hey, you guys give us thumbs down too. It goes both ways.

I can't speak for the other Christians out there....but I don't hate those who disagree with me. I don't hate the people who mock me either - Jesus told me in the Bible that people would react that way. I kinda expect it. How can I hate someone I don't even know? That's illogical. No, I don't hate them....sometimes I just get annoyed and I react. I'm human after all and not a terribly patient one at that.

LOL I haven't run out of cheeks yet...but sometimes the only ones I can turn are the ones I sit on!!

Hi Sir,
"I don't hate you/I don't have the power to Bless you." Many people mock God, but don't even know who he is. You are right, people should not judge other people. The 'BOOK" says judge not lest you be judged. But it does also speak of fruitages of the spirit and gives advice on how to live "WITH THE LEAST AMOUNT OF PAIN" That is it's purpose, and to expose those not living by the original standards set out by God. How many religions are doing what God commanded? And how many religions did Jesus teach about? He taught truth without religious phanatacism. What is funny, the truth is in all Bibles. Christendom and other mainstream religions in the world neglect it's standards.

I give thumbs downs to comments I feel only push people further away from God. That does not mean I am judging the person, just the sentiment. Many of the comments are inflammatory and mean. Are we not allowed to defend our faith? Are you not defending your own by posting hostile comments against Christianity?

I am a Christian, and I have never claimed that I "will have the last laugh." Why are you bearing false witness. What proof do you have that I, or any other Christian for that matter, made this claim.

If anybody is judging, it's you.

Besides being an obvious liar, you are a hypocrite.

I don't judge. I don't give thumbs down unless someone cusses and is a total jerk. I am not mad at non-Christians.

I also won't be laughing when people I love and care about at not let in heaven. I will weep my friend.
