Arranged marriages vs. romantic marriages. Do you think that marriages arranged by the family are more successful than ones that develop from the couple only?

arrenged marriages last longer....... but only because the two people don't really love each other they just live together.. and that ain't really hard..........
but, i don't like arrenged marriages

No matter what kind of marriage it is, marriage is an end to your health and your finances. Your finances will be lost ( mortgage payment, health care bills not only for yourself but your wife and kids as well, college, the list can go on). The pressures of all this plus the pressures of the job (and possible two jobs) to make ends meet will affect your health into depression. Do not get married no matter if it is arranged or romantic.

Well, statistics actually show that arranged marriages last more often than when you choose your own spouse but I believe that is because of their culture and religion definitely forbids the divorce.
I would by far prefer a romantic marriage though.

Oddly enough, I'd probably go with the arranged marriage. The best part of this arrangement is that you are getting to know each other.
Maybe this is what we would have in the future, just fill out the questionnaire and put it in the machine and out pops your mate.
Nowadays with so many people already cohabiting, marriage is just a piece of paper.

No. I'm sorry, but I'm against the idea of arranged marriages. I would be horrified at the idea of my family deciding who I am going to spend the rest of my life with...decide the father of my children...decide who I am going to sleep with!? No. No one has control over my body but me. I choose who touches me, not my parents!!
I believe a couple needs to be able to develop their own relationship based on common interests and goals, and the choice to marry should be made between the two of them, not chosen by the family.

There is no difference in the divorce rate between the two. It's just a question of whether or not someone would be willing to give up their choice of a mate.....
