Opiate withdrawls(which is what this is, Dt's are from alcohol wd's) usually last about a week. The worst of it is days 2-4. After that, the wd's begin to subside. There are outpatient and at home detoxes that he could go through and be much more comfortable and would not be acting like this. However, if he is already 2 or 3 days into it, just wait another day or two and he will be on the downside of it and getting better. Good luck.

DT's, (tremors) usually are a reaction to cessation of an alcoholic from drinking, and they, usually require professional help,(other extra meds to help come down off the alcohol addiction) real DT's can result in seizures that are life threatening but when you are addicted to any medication and suddenly stop taking it, it is very very dangerous, usually the Dr. will monitor this and do what is called a "taper" on the drugs,or put you on another substitue to lower side effects for a while, it can be a little complicated and goes into blood draws and levels for safety, I would definately have him see his Dr. and tell him what is going on.

Sorry, but he is dangerous to himself and her at this point, plus he needs medical care to detox off that stuff.

She should baker act him. His job does not need to know anything other than he is sick and will not be in for X amount of time.

If he loses this job, he can get another, but at least he will be healthy.
