I have no problem with the breed. I love my moms pittie to death. He is such a sweet boy and such a protector if need be. I have a problem with irresponsible owners who breed them to fight or teach them to be mean. People don't understand that you can teach ANY dog to act this way, not just a pit. I also think that they don't bite as often as many other breeds, however when the do the bite can be pretty devastating so I think it gets much more media attention.

I'd not heard that one, but I had heard a few other things about Lassie:
1. Lassie was actually a "Laddie"--every dog that played Lassie was a male (makes you wince when "she" barely clears the fence, doesn't it?)
2. Lassie was played by several dogs. Not just generations, either--Lassie had her own stunt dogs that filled in during particularly dangerous scenes.
There were several other things, too--she had her own trailer, etc., but that gives you an idea.
