Probably just in the typical, conventional cat vs. dog way -- but the fact she would be in heat won't bother him.
Why wasn't your cat spayed? Why are you not making arrangements to have her spayed BEFORE she comes into her next heat? Are you planning on spaying and neutering the kittens before they go to their new homes? Pediatric spays can be performed at 8 weeks and 2 lbs
Have you scheduled an neuter appointment for your new dog yet?

IN REGARDS TO QUESTION... I want to say yes my neutered male dag defiantly picked up on that my newly adopted stray kitten (whoms age has not been determined, but guessed at 3 month) is in heat. WHY DO I SAY THAT, he is doing a typical male chase after behaviour, and my other dog, female is way more chilled. We did not see this behavoius with our previous cat that was a neutered male.
TO ALL YOU MEAN PPL: Gee wiz you people are like a dog with a bone, only one of you had to say nicely what to do not friggen dump all over the chick over and over again. Do you think being mean to someone is going to make them see your opinion? If you explain nicely people are more inclined to listen.. don t you remember when your mom said DON T DO THAT, so what did you do you went and did the opposite.
FOR ALL YOU OVERLY OBSESSED PEOPLE - YES MY KITTEN WILL BE SPAYED, take a chill pill!!

Oh geez... just spay the cat. Places like Petco do it for $50. There's too many cats in the world. Look at petfinder.com. That's just one website with thousands and thousands of homeless cats.
My cousin won't spay her female cat - she says "Oh, I had no problem finding homes for the kittens!" Well I say "The people who took those kittens could've taken different cats instead."
Neuter the dog too - it's better for his health.
As for the cat and dog getting along together - they will adjust with time, but if you hesitate for even a moment, separate them when you leave the house.

I would keep an eye on them for a while. Make sure there won't be any hard feelings. and keep the dog away from her babies, she'll tear him up for sure even if he's just "checking them out" i have two cats and one dog. the dog is very passive and he'll let the cats run all over him and torture him. but in the end of the day the three of them are on the living room floor curled up together alseep. good luck.

Keep your cat inside until her kittens are weaned. Then spay her. Neuter your dog. Why are all your pets intact and reproducing?
There's these places called pounds, you see, and they KILL animals that end up there because people think it's okay for everything to breed. Be responsible. Stop contributing to this problem and FIX your pets.
PS- Your dog doesn't care about your cat's heat. It may try to eat the kittens, though. I would keep them separated until the kittens are at least a few weeks old.

Have your dog and cat spayed so they don't produce litter after litter.
There are enough cats/dogs in the world.
About 10 MILLION cats and dogs are out to sleep every year in the US because there are not enough homes for them
Don't be part of the problem.

It depends on the cat and dog honestly and since you've never had them around each other, I think you should give it a trial run. Only when you're around though, that way if a fight breaks out you have the oppurtunity to stop it.

Do you know how many cats/kittens are killed in shelters everyday because of irresponsible owners like yourself? There are so, so, so many cats without homes because of people like you.
Get you cat spayed and your dog neutered for crying out loud!

HUH? Cat in heat, will it affect the dog?? No, other than the fact that if she pushes her rear in his face, he is going to lick.. She can't get pregnant tho if that's what you are thinking.

It is safe for them to be around each other. But PLEASE get them spayed and neutered. The world doesn't need more unwanted cats and dogs. Please, be kind and have the spayed and neutered. As a favor to them, and the world. And please don't let your cat outside. They don't belong outside, especially if she is unspayed.
