The Immaculate Conception Argument

I have a hard time with that. What is the point of Jesus if he could have just prevent us from sinning? Why bother dying on the cross? Why fulfill the law if he could prevent the breaking of it?

Gal 3:21 Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law.

For a while I could understand the analogy of a pit.

One might fall in the pit, and need rescued, and another could almost fall in but be caught, so that they to were rescued but never went into it. The pit being a picture of sin, but then why couldn't God do that for us without the death of his son? You see?

You know how deep a hole you are in by the length of the rope that pulls you out. Jesus came and pulled us out.

Gal 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Careful how you are talking about Jesus' Mother. Whether she was a sinner or not, we are still to honor our parents, and if Jesus does so, do you think he will not rebuke you for dishonoring his Mother? I'd be careful of who's Mom is being talked about like that.

There is scripture that says his body was not conceived but prepared:
Heb 10:5 Therefore, when He came into the world, He said:

"Sacrifice and offering You did not desire,
But a body You have prepared for Me.
Heb 10:6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin
You had no pleasure.
Heb 10:7 Then I said, "Behold, I have come--
In the volume of the book it is written of Me--
To do Your will, O God."'[1]

But that the Word became flesh:
Joh 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

He also said this:

Mar 3:31 Then His brothers and His mother came, and standing outside they sent to Him, calling Him.
Mar 3:32 And a multitude was sitting around Him; and they said to Him, "Look, Your mother and Your brothers[5] are outside seeking You."
Mar 3:33 But He answered them, saying, "Who is My mother, or My brothers?"
Mar 3:34 And He looked around in a circle at those who sat about Him, and said, "Here are My mother and My brothers!
Mar 3:35 For whoever does the will of God is My brother and My sister and mother."

The Hebrews verse above, I pointed out to show that the virgin will bear a child, but that doesn't mean he has her genetics at all, scripturally. So Mary doesn't have to be perfect. Jesus does on the otherhand, so he would have to have the whole body prepared and placed there.

Isa 7:14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.[2]

That word conceive is actually:
הרה

Which is to say haw-raw in Hebrew, meaning to be with Child, not the whole conception necessarily.

everyone, including Mary needed saving- Mary was chosen by God to be the earthly mother of Jesus, not because she was perfect- but because she loved the Lord- and was humble in His presence. If you were able to ask Mary if she was perfect, she would have been the first one to say that she was not. Jesus HAD to pay the price for our sin, because the wages of sin is death- so it would and SHOULD have been us, but in God's infinite love, He chose to send His Son to die for us.
And if you think I am not honoring Mary, you are wrong- I have respect for her in that she was the mother of our Savior, but I do not worship her. There is a huge difference

Mary WAS saved. Remember the Magnificat. She admits that God is her savior. With her, it was merely a matter of timing. How could a Holy God be born of a sinful mother? That requirement does not apply to the rest of us. In fact, people of the OT are actually saved long after their lives ended, not by bulls and goats, which were a mere representation of what was to come, but retroactively by the Blood of the Cross.

Remember that for God, time is not a real issue. But sin is.

The reasoning behind the doctrine of the Immaculate Conception (she was not called this until just before the Lourdes apparitions in the 1800's) was that because Jesus was sinless, and God, He had to have been conceived and born in a vessel that was perfect in every way.

Ipso facto, her womb was Heaven for nine months, for within, was God, the Creator, the Saviour, the Comforter.

All Mary did was conceive Christ's humanity, in a manner of speaking. She was not the mother of God, though Jesus is God. Jesus' conception was not like any other, keep in mind.

She apparently was a righteous woman, but in need of a Saviour like anyone else. Her son James (Jesus' half-brother) wrote the book of James.

Galatians 1:19 But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother.

Mary was a godly woman who loved the Lord. She had to be special to do what she did,,to take the gossip and everything that brought about. Joseph was also a special man who had faith in God. But they were not better than any of the rest of God's creation when it came to salvation...their faith in Jesus as the Son of God is what saved them. Mary was in the upper room..she needed the Holy Spirit within her, as much as we do.

Yes, she was special in her own way, but she died just as we all do and will be resurrected with the rest of us who die in Christ. So will Joseph.

Popes are just men. They cannot bestow Deity on a mere mortal woman who died and went to heaven like billions of others.

My mom was a Jew, and my dad was a Catholic. My wife is Protestant, and so am I.

I am an ex-Catholic.

I don't pray to the "mother of God", becase Mary is a just child of our eternally existing Messiah, blessed though she was among women.

I no longer pray to "graven image" statues of a "god before Me" ... nor to I pray to any one but GOD!!! Just like Jesus said!

My mom was a Jew, and my dad was a Catholic. My wife is a Protestant, and so am I.

God made an exception for Mary because a virgin bitrth was required, and Mary was the best of the mere mortal women available...not a god!!!

God gave the world free will. All people may do as they wish. Jesus was sacrificed on the cross as the ultimate sacrifice. Before him, people would have to slaughter a cow (or whatever their best animal was) in the temple and burn it as a sacrifice. God had then sent his own son to be the sacrifice for everyone and all the sins that they would make. because we have free will.

Mary was a sinner. Mary has no role in our salvation. Mary needed Jesus to save her. Mary is only the birth mother of Jesus, she is not the "Mother of God", as God is eternal, and Mary is created (again, she is a sinner).

Mary had sex with Joseph and had many children after the miracle virgin birth of Jesus. And Mary can't hear anyone "praying" to her.

Mary was the chosen vessel for the human Christ.......nothing special about her. She was a sinner in need of the Savior too.

But this is the way God orchestrated it.........it had to be so.

The Lord Jesus Christ HAD to be human in order to carry out the sacrafice on the cross.....

And He HAD to be Deity in order to live a perfect, sinless life.

Mary was perfect and free of sin, Jesus had to be born into the world free of sin, no spot or imperfection, Jesus was and is our lamb.
