when i was in junior high, i hated it. i wouldn't even go in the lunch room, i would just eat out of the vending machines. when i got to high school, i started occasionally eating in the lunch room when i realized just how good it was, and what a good deal i was getting- a whole meal for a buck and a half? it was incredible. once i got to college, i really started to miss school lunch, and luckily, i got my degree in education. so when i did my student teaching, i got to eat school lunch everyday! it was awesome! and such a good deal.

I don't think it is all that bad. My husband and I have taken turns going to eat lunch with our children just to meet their friends and enjoy part of their day and at first we began taking our own lunch because we thought it would be horrible, BUT to our surprise it was delicious and at my children's elementary school they also offer a complete salad bar. Not bad huh?

I loved school lunches on certain days..for some children it is the only nourishment they will get for the day...thanks to the government. It is definately a necessary thing. and most school food isn't all that bad:)

I continue to hear every year how different groups want to make the school lunches healthier but yet they continue to have the same offerings on the menu.

School lunch is a very good thing. It provides the kids with healthy food to eat. Lots of kids would bring junk food, if they had to provide their own sack lunches.
Many kids would not have nutrition at all, if they have parents who have no money.
If I ask my grandkids what they ate at school today, they always name good foods.

The food at my kids school isn't bad. It's the line to get the food that is horrible. By the time they stand in line they hardly have time to eat.

Used to love the bean & cheese burritos...they dont make 'em like they used to!! Now that my girls are in school & i have visited them during lunch, it's no wonder they get home starving, i wouldn't eat that stuff either!

I think this belongs in food section or school section.
BTW, I really loved my grade school chili and cinnamon rolls. This was 33 years ago...lol

I teach at a private school and the food is god but most school food is punishment

It doesnt look healthy and doesnt taste healthy.. who knows where that kind of food came from and if the source is reputable. Bring your own bag!
