Authentic faith is thoughtful, thought-out, analyzed. Blind faith is too fearful and weak to apply any rational thought to itself. It's interesting that you contrast blind faith with "authentic" faith. You're on to something. Blind faith is not authentic faith at all.

I assume you are talking about religion, but to get a different viewpoint, let's look at it from a different angle.
Let's take Global Warming as an example.
If I were to say to you that I believe the IPCC that the predictions on Global Warming were accurate, that would be authentic faith, because I would have faith in their knowledge and would assume that they know what they are talking about.
If, however, I were to say that I believe in Global Warming because Al Gore said it was so, and he used to be Vice-president, and he is just so charming that he would not need to lie about anything, that would be blind faith.
The difference is that one is somewhat authoritative, and the other is just based entirely on your opinion of things that have nothing to do with the subject at hand.
Now transfer that to religion. I believe as I do because my parents, or my minister told me that this was the faith for me. That is somewhat authoritative and would be reasonable to have an authentic faith in. If, however, you were to send a bunch of cash to a TV evangelist because he was flashy, charismatic, and seemed to have "Gods power to heal," at least on TV, then that would be blind faith, because you have no clue to the actual motives of this person, and your faith in his word is based on things other than authenticity.

I wasn't aware there was a difference.
If some aspect of your understanding wasn't complete or known to you... that would make some portion of it "blind". If all was known to you, or revealed to you - it wouldn't be faith at all... it would be verifiable science backed by evidence.
People don't like the phrase "blind faith"... so they just call it faith. They say their experiences and knowledge are evidence. From there they use faith to fill in the 'holes' (like when God doesn't answer prayer... or when things go really really badly... etc)

Blind faith is just that. My children have faith that if they fall toward my waiting arms that I will catch them.I could pull back at the last minute and then they would have faith no more but I wouldn't do that. That is how it is with God.I trust him to be there even though I have never seen his hands behind me to catch me whenI fall. But somehow I always manage to get up with faith intact....and my bones as well. Which could not be said for my children if I failed them

Blind faith is unquestioned...untested...faith. It is second hand knowledge just believed at all costs. It makes one "blind" to deeper understanding and realizations others may have - that would pose questions.
Real faith comes from the feedback seen in your own life and experience. Real faith does not fear questions or questioning - as that often brings deeper understanding.

faith that is blind is faith put in someone/something that cannot save, that cannot be trusted. Putting faith in the God, through Jesus Christ is authentic faith- because God is faithful 100% of the time. Through faith we see God- we will never see something we put blind faith into.

Blind faith is when you believe in something but don't know why. Authentic faith is something totaly different. It's faith that is proven by works and endurance (we are saved by THAT faith and by faith alone, not by works, but authentic faith will be shown by works, like James said: "SHow me your faith without your works (dead faith), and I will show you my faith with my works (authentic faith!)

blind faith is accepting what you are taught with out questioning it. you need to seek God to know you are on the right path not just accept what a priest or Imam says.

blind faith can be synonumous with fundamentalism. Autentic faith means that people who say their faith is autentic really believe it to be true. So in some way it's all th same.
