Okay, Ive asked before but didnt get a solid respnse, at the eceond physical, do they check urine, blood pressure, and duck walk and all that again, or is it just height/wieght and talk with the doc? I really dont have any reason to be worried, just wanna know what to expect, and how hard is the PT exam, that you do BEFORE basic? Also, do Army reserves swaer in twice, Ive heard no.

You only swear in once. You shouldn't have to do the duck walk, but they will be doing a physical to make sure you are ok to go. And they do a short test that requires you to do something like 13 push ups just to make sure you're not a total slob before they send you to your unit. There you will take a "diagnostic" PT test. This is done to find out what level of fitness you are in- there are usually three categories, primarily based on your run time: Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie. The Alpha group are the fastest and the Charlie are the slowest.
Word to the wise: while I wouldn't recommend slacking off for the diagnostic, it's not a good idea to set any land speed records because once in the Alpha group, you'll be running your butt off every time they split the groups up. Just a little experience talking.

My experience was at Ft. Leonard Wood where I ran a basic training company a couple years ago.

I am not sure about the physical party, but I know the PT test is nothing. Its an abbrievated version of the real PT test. You only have to do about 1/4th minimum of the regular PT test. It just to make sure you can do the exercises. I don't remember the exact standards for it, but we found it amazing that people still failed it. For males, I think it was about 14 push ups and you could practically walk the 1 mile run.

Most of physicals I saw the trainees go through was mostly shots, checking glasses perscriptions, dental and hearing. Its more about making sure you have the things you need, like glasses for example, and establishing a baseline on hearing so they can measure if you lose hearing in the future.

Okay, once you get to Jackson, you will go to Reception. It last about a week. During that time, you take a blood test and a urine test, you get your dental x-rays, and hearing, and vision checked. You also get your uniform issue and start your paperwork for your enlistment record and start your pay. You will square away any family issues you have. You have to take a PT test to get out of reception to start the actual Basic training. It isn't hard, they don't expect you to be able to do 60 push ups right away so don't stress. If you are in decent shape, you'll have no problem. Once you get thru with all that, you'll go to your basic training company and then the fun begins. Good luck, and let me know if you have anymore questions!

They only took our height and weight again, and asked if anything had changed, at MEPS before shipping out.

One of the very first things we did at boot camp, before we were even allowed to begin training, was take the entire physical exam over again. You don't start training until the doc at boot camp clears you.
