I believe it's because they have an effect on the Autonomic Nervous System. It's divided into two sections; the Sympathetic (fight or flight) and the Parasympathetic (feed or breed).
Symptoms of depression and anxiety are basically malfunctions in the Sympathetic Autonomic response. The medications are intended to have an effect on that, but there is an untended effect on the Parasympathetic response which is related to sex and the digestive system. Mental health drugs also have a tendency to cause constipation or dry mouth, which are both Parasympathetic responses, just like sex. Sometimes somebody can have an unintentional interaction between the two systems even when medication isn't involved; like somebody being so scared he wets his pants, for example.

They deal with the firing order between the nerve endings, neurotransmitters (something like that), which the chemicals in the antidepressant job is to calm the activity between them. This mellow outs all the emotional response including the sex drive.
Who knows, someday they may improve the antidepressants to isolate each signal to the individual feelings.

Paxil- I believe antidepressants help by taking the edge off your feelings. What normally cause your nerves terrific strain and wear you down. The antidepressant blunts those harmful feelings, but it may also blunt the intensity of your sex drive. I think men who have sex crimes should be forced to be on these.

The reason y they lower ur sex drive is because the drugs are blocking the chemical that causes ur sex drive. its the hormone receptors that are being blocked. To build up ur sex drive some ppl resort to porno or masterbating or just not worrying about it and going about ur life.
