Did abraham have a wife and then slept with Hagar? So if I get married and my wife says "sure, you can have sex with Sally down the road" does that mean I can be an adulterer?

And what about Jacob, David, and Solomon? They all had multiple wives...so does that mean that Jesus denounce, or condemned those people??

So if that's a yes, that means Jesus is saying that his religion has been led astray by bad men from the beginning....and if he didn't condemn those people does that mean adultery or polygamy isn't that bad that Jesus didn't bother taking his time to condemn the people??

I don't understand.

Yet another contradiction of the bible. I'm sure the Christians will explain it away though, they are good at that.

because while God is the same today, yesterday, and forever, man is not. as we go through the history of mankind, our needs have changed. sometimes in history, having more than one wife was okay, because that was the need of society, and other times, plural marriages were no longer needed, so the allowance was revoked. like today, there are enough men and women to go around, so everyone only gets one spouse. further back in history, there was only one man for ever four or so women, and to survive, everyone needed a spouse, so there were men with many wives.
when the law was not set up that allowed for more than one wife, there were punishments for those who broke the law of matrimony.
condemnation is not for this world, but for the life after. if i may make a suggestion, dont worry so much about the sins of others, and just do what you know is right. look inside yourself, so some serious praying and find out for yourself what is right for you to do now.
And what's right for you might not be right for everyone else, but at least you'll be living your life the best that you can.

Sarai’s offer was in line with the custom of the day—that a barren wife was obligated to provide her husband with a concubine in order to produce an heir. The practice of polygamy first appeared in the line of Cain. Eventually, it became a custom and was adopted by some worshipers of Jehovah. However, Jehovah never abandoned his original standard of monogamy. Noah and his sons, to whom the command to ‘be fruitful and fill the earth’ was repeated, were evidently all monogamous. (Genesis 7:7; 9:1; 2 Peter 2:5) And this standard of monogamy was reasserted by Jesus Christ.

Jesus never defined marriage, love. It was defined in the Old testament as a man will take his wife. Paul said that men should marry a worthy virgin so he doesn't burn with passion. I think you would be well to do to read the teachings of Jesus. Read Leviticus, and read the books of Paul. It will explain so much better than i can

There are many Old Testament customs that Jesus does not approve of or confirm. Jesus came to establish the Kingdom of God. A new way to be human. These old customs were just that. Old customs. Read through Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. You will find many things in there that Jesus does not come out against. We take out orders from Jesus. Those of us who are "gentile" Christians are New Testament Christians, and therefore abide by all of Christ's commandments. Peace, love, grace and truth.

You'll find that Jesus seldom did much in the way of condemning... instead he taught what he believed to be the right things to do and way to live, and lived his life as an example by hanging out with all those 'terrible sinners' and loving them without condemnation.

Because Sarah loved Abraham so much, she was devastated to not be able to have a child. She gave her servant to give Abraham a son, a child. Sarah lost her faith in God. She, like us, failed to believe that God can follow through with his plans.

Jesus changed the law when He came to earth and lived hislife. What happened before happened before. It was accepted back then but is no longer accepted or tolerated now.

What is not to understand?

They all did this, yes. Have you looked at the punishments for such crime? David lost his firstborne. Solomon fell from the grace he found in God, and worshipped other idols. Yes, Jesus God punished them in their crimes. Read the stories a little further. God is a God of Justice, no matter who it is.
Adultery has never been ok, and Abraham sleeping with Hagar was just as bad. Where do you think the Muslim family line came from? It came from Hagar, and Abrahams and Sarah's unbelief in God's plan. They jumped the gun and screwed a whole bunch of things up.

God didn't tell Abraham to sleep with Hagar (Sarah's maidservant) . Abraham's wife, Sarah, told him to do it. Because she didn't have faith that God would bring her a child.
They had one wife and multiple concubines because that was the culture of the time. God didn't tell them to have multiple wives.

Jesus never said marriage is between a man in a woman, to the contrary Jesus told us not to get married. Jesus neither condemned nor condoned the actions or in actions of Abraham, he said that Abraham was glad to see Him.

Your comments concerning Solomon and David have the same outcome, Jesus said nothing concerning their love life.

Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.
For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, Matt 22:29-30

But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. Matt 5:32

All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given. For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.
Matt 19:11-12

A marriage vow or oath is a promise, a promise can never be broken, it can only be FULFILLED

Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths: But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne: Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.
Matt 5:33-37

hope this helps.... Jesus said a marraige is between one man and one woman..... but he goes on to detail that this relationship is more like the analogy that peanut butter is a good husband for jelly or the mix of cotton/polyester or drum/bass in every instance in the bible where "wife" occurs it should be a reference to you and your God! not you and your wife, this should clear up the old biblical stuff for ya
