Hi Americans hope you are well? Quick question for those in the American forces, especially those in th USAF. Is it possible to get to the rank of Chief Master Sergent by the age of 23. I know that anyone getting to the British equivalent would normally be in thier mid 30's up and only then if there's some luck and alot of skill and experience on their side. I'm guessing the answers no but I've had a run in with a guy who says he is one at 23 years old. Follow link to have a look.
His names letsgoarmedforces and I'm luckysticks.

It is absolutely impossible.
By LAW, one must have ten years enlisted service to be promoted to E-9 in any of the armed forces. By regulation (Air Force Instruction 36-2502), the Air Force requires a minimum of 14 years service (thus going beyond the law).
Since one cannot legally enlist before one's 17th birthday, one could not legally be a CMSgt before age 27...but the AFI makes the person wait until at least age 31.

Chief Master Sergeant is an E-9 - the highest enlisted rank you can reach. Even if this guy was signed on under a special program due to education or experience, I've never heard of anyone enlisting higher than E-4. E-5 is conceivable, but I've never met anyone who enlisted that high. Then there is minimum time-in-grade, plus advancement requirements for each MOS (job).
At best, graduating high school early (even at 15!) and getting enough higher education and experience to warrant such an offer, by the time he's 23 there's no way he'd make CMSgt. Most never reach that even at retirement age. Those who do are nearing the end of their careers, not the beginning.
In short, your friend in filled up on doggy-doo-doo.

Wow, that's a young age to make Chief Master Sergeant, and it's impossible to make that rank at that age no matter how smart or lucky a person is. My husband made Master Sergeant his 17th year in the USAF. After making Master, he had the option to continue and try for Chief or retire on his 20th year in the Airforce. He chose to retire. He was 42 when he retired, and still young. At the present, luck did come into play b/c after retiring he couldn't be still. He hated staying at home. We live in SD, home of Ellsworth AFB. This is a small town and the wages for civilians working is not the best. He worked at a construction company for 6 months, and he hated it and only got paid 7.00 per hr. Here's where luck comes in...I read the Classifieds (Job Section) a lot and found a medical equipment company that was hiring as a delivery driver for oxygen, hospital beds, etc. The pay was 9.00 per hour, he interviewed and was hired. About 3 months later, the manager, the office manager, the customer service rep. were all fired b/c they together had been stealing from the company for years. As luck had it, my husband became manager after working there only 3 months, and still is the manager. He loves his job and he has turned this branch office into #1 for the region. So, I asked him about your question, he said, "NO WAY"! Sorry...
P.S. You spelled sergeant wrong...had to let you know. More you know, the better, my friend. Good luck again.

Let's say he enters the AF at 17 with college experience, so he enters as an A1C (E-3) then makes BTZ, he'd put on SrA (E-4) at age 19. And let's say again, he makes Staff (E-5) on his 1st time testing, so he's a staff at 20, that gives him 3 more years to make 4 more ranks. He'd already have to wait 1 year to even test for Tech (E-6) after putting on Staff. Let's say he does, so at 21 he makes tech, at 22 he puts it on. Then lets say again he is step promoted (given the next rank due to his excellant performance) which is Master (E-7).
So if life were perfect for him, he'd be a master at most at 23. I have NEVER heard of a troop this high speed. Plus from reading what he wrote on youtube he isn't in the AF at all. He did not know the motto, or anything else. He also called it a unit, we don't call them that in the AF.

my uncle just retired from USAF as CMS got his rank at 30
each promotion is dictated by how much time you have on grade..each rank you need to hold for a perscribed length of time could be wrong but dont think you can do it in 5 years
