My concern is whether I'll be able to successfully reactivate Vista as the new owner in the event I reformat the computer, upgrade the memory, replace the LCD screen if I break it and so on.

WINDOWS VISTA SUCKS. I JUST WANT TO TELL YOU THAT. GET VISTA NEXT YEAR IN NOVEMBER. THAT'S JUST WHAT I THINK.

Yes, you should be OK. But, make sure you get a proper Bill of Sale and all the factory supplied Manuals (Read them FIRST) & Disks (Vista Recovery files could be on the hard drive) that came with the PC.

Then call or Email them and ask how to update their records.
