We are not looking to pulled over anybody,,,,we don't have time for that..... unless of course its a special assigment
where we target people not wearing seatbelts.
Once in a while when we are stop on a red light we will look at both directions ( we always end up in the middle of two cars on a red light) and see if anything is not normal ( child seat not properly installed, not wearing seatbelts, not working light, windows to dark, nervous driver, expired license plate,
loud music, or just trying to meet my quota)

Yes, in my state I can pull you over just for a seatbelt violation.

Oh and DMH10, Check your local laws, Police are exempt from minor traffic laws during the course of duty. I do wear my seatbelt 90% of the time, but when I am expecting to have to make a dive out of the car, the seatbelt can be a reallll hassle.

In Philly yhey can, we have this saying, "Click it or ticket" and they have commercials about it that say if you are going to a long drive, buckle up, if you are going to the store down the street, buckle up. Click it or Ticket

However, I do see mroe people wearing their seatbelts, and yes you can tell when a driver isn't waering their seatbelt if that is something you are looking for

Do you mean off duty? I wouldn't off duty, not worth the hassle.

On duty?
In Ontario you must wear a seatbelt, if you don't you can be subject to a $110 fine and 3pts.
Enforcing this law is part of my job.

In Florida, where I work, you can not be cited as a primary offense for not wearing a seat belt.

But, if I see you commit another violation and you are not wearing your seat belt as well, than that is a seat belt violation ticket along with the primary offense.

It is a non-moving, civil infraction with a $76.50 fine in my county.

I work at the local courthouse and yes police can tell. Next, it depends on the laws of your state whether or not the police can pull you over for not wearing your seatbelt.

Most states have adopted "Click it or ticket it"

yes it is noticed. In Michigan you can get pulled over for just that. And there is government grants to pull you over for just that. Plus it is a no point ticket so some PD try to find them.
