1 In the beginning when God createda the heavens and the earth, 2the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the deep, while a wind from Godb swept over the face of the waters. 3Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light. 4And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness.

5God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.
6 And God said, "Let there be a dome in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters." 7So God made the dome and separated the waters that were under the dome from the waters that were above the dome. And it was so. 8God called the dome Sky. And there was evening and there was morning, the second day.

9 And God said, "Let the waters under the sky be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear." And it was so.

10God called the dry land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it was good.

11Then God said, "Let the earth put forth vegetation: plants yielding seed, and fruit trees of every kind on earth that bear fruit with the seed in it." And it was so. 12The earth brought forth vegetation: plants yielding seed of every kind, and trees of every kind bearing fruit with the seed in it. And God saw that it was good. 13And there was evening and there was morning, the third day.

14 And God said, "Let there be lights in the dome of the sky to separate the day from the night; and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years, 15and let them be lights in the dome of the sky to give light upon the earth." And it was so. 16God made the two great lights--the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night--and the stars. 17God set them in the dome of the sky to give light upon the earth,

18to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19And there was evening and there was morning, the fourth day.

20 And God said, "Let the waters bring forth swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the dome of the sky." 21So God created the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves, of every kind, with which the waters swarm, and every winged bird of every kind. And God saw that it was good.

22God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth." 23And there was evening and there was morning, the fifth day.

24 And God said, "Let the earth bring forth living creatures of every kind: cattle and creeping things and wild animals of the earth of every kind." And it was so.

25God made the wild animals of the earth of every kind, and the cattle of every kind, and everything that creeps upon the ground of every kind. And God saw that it was good.

26 Then God said, "Let us make humankindc in our image, according to our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the wild animals of the earth,d and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth."

27 So God created humankinde in his image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. 28God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth."

29God said, "See, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food. 30And to every beast of the earth, and to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food." And it was so. 31God saw everything that he had made, and indeed, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

2. When God creates something, if He is Omniscient, why must He see that something is good? Wouldn't he know it would be good before He made it?

Solly, he saw THAT the light was good. Does this not suggest the possibility that it may NOT have been good?

I've often wodered about the "us" too. I think He's referring to himself and Jesus. Later in John it says Jesus was with God then.
I think He was probably getting excited about His beautiful creation when He said its good!
Tjere could always be things not mentioned. I never thought about it. HMMMMM

Where the Bible Begins

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

1. The Bible begins with “the beginning” – the start of everything

2. What was before that moment, is only alluded to (see Job 38:4-7)

a. There was the existence of God

b. The existence of angels – the “sons of God”

c. God’s heaven – His place of dwelling (see acts 17:26-28)

d. Eternity itself (Psalm 90:1,2)

3. But as far as this universe is concerned, this was THE beginning.

B. This is the Beginning of the First Day

1. Let’s look carefully the first 10 words

a. In the beginning

1) There was a beginning

2) Hebrew, bereshit, (ray-sheeth) describes an absolute beginning. Not ambiguous, or mysterious, but describes, at one moment, there was absolutely nothing, and then the next moment, there was something!

b. God – one Creator, one Deity – he is therefore called the Father (Isa 44:6,8), or the Originator of everything.

1) Hebrew Elohiym (El-O-Heem) - God in its plural form. Here is the Trinity in the very title of God at creation.

2) This is His title – not really a name. Like, President, Prime Minister, Pharaoh, King, Pastor – all are TITLES, not a name

3) The Mormons make Elohiym into a name, which it isn’t!

c. Created – created out of nothing (Rom 4:17)

1) Hebrew: bara (Baw-raw) to create from nothing. He alone created everything from nothing. Both the very Heaven and the Earth

2) God loves to create – it is part of his character

a) He doesn’t “copy” from anyone else

b) He is creative – has His own ideas, and ways of doing things

c) He created out of nothing, the raw materials for everything

d) And then from those materials moulded and shaped and produced all that we have today

e) And He will again “create” all over again new heavens and a new earth in the future (Isa 65:17)

d. The heaven (Isa 42:5)

1) NOT the heaven(s) like in all the new bibles

NKJV In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

NIV In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

2) But, like the Jews have always understood it

PENT In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

3) And, like John understood it (Rev 20:11; 21:1)

4) And like Jesus understood it (Mt 24:35)

e. And the earth (Heb 1:10)

1) A ball of spinning water-covered rock

2) That’s how God started with the earth

3) More will be covered in verse 2

2. What Was Created? Only the raw materials

a. Time – it has a starting place. It also will have an end (Rev 10:6)

b. Matter – Three kinds of matter were created

1) The earth

2) Water - physicists are only just now coming to understand the true nature of this universe – it is flexible, and stretching, expanding – but not because of a “big bang!”

3) And Heaven itself – not the heaven where God dwells, but “space”

c. Space

1) Space has a fabric to it – a substance that is stretching

2) It is the container that God created for holding everything that is material

d. Motion

1) The earth is spinning from the first moment

2) The whole universe seems to have begun in motion

e. Energy (Energy is really made evident in verse 3 though)

3. What was the purpose in all this “creating?” (Isa 43:7; Rev 4:11; Isa 45:18)

4. What the Biblical Record is firmly, and clearly AGAINST (there is no way to merge these with the Bible’s clear meaning):

a. Athiesm. Atheism teaches that there is no God, but the Bible starts off blasting right away at the atheist with God already existing before “the beginning.”

b. Polytheism. Polytheism believes that there is more than just one God. The examples of polytheism include Greek Mythology, Hinduism, and the New Age movement. The Bible says, GOD!

c. Evolution. Evolution states everything is here by chance without God. How can you believe the Bible AND Evolution?

d. Panthiesm teaches all of the creation is “god” (i.e., that God is a part of the universe), but the Bible states that He is separate from it!

e. Existentialism (Diesm) teaches that God is away from His creation, and totally disconnected from it, whereas the Bible states that once God started this universe, He has been involved in its operation ever since (Heb 1:1-3; Col 1:16,17)!

f. Einsteinism - Einstein believed in the eternity of matter (matter itself is all there is), but the Bible states that all matter had a beginning, and a Beginner/Creator!

g. Fatalism. With the act of creation, God shows that there was a purpose in His creation – HALELUJAH!

1: who is "us" in v. 26? 'US' is referring to the exact image of God, and his sons; the angels. If you ever wondered what an angel form looks like? Then look into a mirror, for we are created in their image.

2. When God creates something, if He is Omniscient, why must He see that something is good? Wouldn't he know it would be good before He made it? He will surely know

3. Are there any things that were NOT mentioned in the book where God might have seen it was not good and started over? NO

He saw THAT the light was good. Does this not suggest the possibility that it may NOT have been good? It will be good because the Holy Spirit is light

The creation in Genesis seems to me more about the Earth becoming habitable ("terraformed"?) than being created.

"Waters" but no light. The sky so dark (covered in clouds) that there was no day or night yet.

Then all that was changed to be more like we know now. The waters receded to basins and became oceans. The sky cleared and the sun showed through creating day and night. Finally the atmosphere cleared enough for even the stars to show through.

Jesus is God's Master Worker (kinda like your right-hand man that does all your dirty work)... He was talking to Jesus when he said 'let us'.

Omniscient though he is, I believe God was sitting back and admiring/approving of his handiwork.

Considering that God wiped out the population (minus 8ppl) by means of a flood because they wouldn't act right, I'm pretty sure any other time he 'started over' would have been recorded if such would have happened.

You pasted all of that for 1 verse? I respect the contextual integrity but a simple summary of the events and verses 25 to 27 would have been sufficient.

Good question about the "us", but for a definitive answer you would need to check if "us" was an accurate translation and compare it to other times that god talks about or appropriately to himself. You could say that this indicates that he was speaking to the spirit and his son at this point or you could interpret it as he was using the "royal we". Both could be considered valid.

True - It is God who did it - Or say Allah
Allah is the name of one true God, nothing else can be called Allah. The term has no plural or gender - This shows its uniqueness when compared with the word god which can be made plural, gods or feminine, goddess. The one true God is a reflection of the unique concept that Islam associates with God. To a Muslim Allah is the Almighty - Creator and Sustain-er of the universe, who is similar to nothing and nothing is comparable to Him (112 surah of the Quran)
The Quran says; Say (O' Muhammad) He is God the One God, the Everlasting Refuge, who has not begotten, nor has been begotten and equal to Him is no anyone.
How does someone become a Muslim ?
Simply by saying ; "There is no god apart from Allah and Muhammad is he Messenger of Allah"
By this declaration the believer announces his or her faith in all God's messengers and the scriptures they brought.
Allah has created us to worship Him and we should bow our heads and should submit in whole.

First of all, consider His (eternal) Grace has no beginning nor end; So then it's all "allegory" in both "covenants" as told us in Galatians 4. And only what began can end. Law Law God began. Grace God is notably "excepted"(exempt): 1Cor 15.

POINT: His Grace is not Law Law, nor mortal, nor divisional.

The "us" is noted throughout the Holy Bible,
often compares "them" & "us" as if "law" & "grace".
- destruction comes on "them" for what they say: 1Th 5:3
- His Grace has not appointed us to wrath(law): 1Th 5:9

Plural God(s): Elohyim: both create and make,
as Creator and Maker, of imperfect & perfect things.
Creator creates imperfect(law), then destroys(laws) after
Maker makes it perfect, so nobody gets destroyed(lawed)

Only what's made, of created & made, is seen as good x 6,
and then as very good the seventh time God saw, in Gen 1.

God said: let us MAKE man (not create children nor men)
And gave two options to play out, notably for "comparing":
- in our image: mirrorly reverse, the before of before/after
- after our likeness: the "after" part, the "perfect" part
When the perfect part comes, then flush the imperfect part

Two parts are also noted in the Holy Bible:
- "their part" - God is evil spoken of: Law
- "your part" - God is glorified: Grace

They all played their part "well": Dt 5; Heb 11; Jam 2
You should play y(our) part "better": Heb 11: conclusion

Believers do well, about as well as devils: Jam 2:8,19
Knowers do better, even go on unto what's best for all:

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

wow, did we really need all of that for that question?

But number one is a very interesting question. I have heard many answers to this question, the one I believe in the most usually doesn't show up on here. It is too long to put as an answer, but it has to do with the Sumerians, Enlil and Enki. Not saying that I believe it 100%, but it is very interesting.
