I'm looking for some small towns in Ireland to visit
Quiet places.....
Maybe a small pub......
Any suggestions?

Check out the Northwest. You can base yourself in Derry City or Coleraine (the bigger towns) and easily get around to smaller towns throughout the day. Examples: from Coelraine, check out Castlerock, Portrush, Portstewart, Bushmills, Limavady (Benone beach- one of the best beaches in Europe & winner of the European Blue Flag Award. ), Giant's Causeway, Portballintrae. From Derry, Lough Swilly and Bus Éireann buses go to county Donegal from the main bus station- Buncrana, Letterkenny, Carndonagh, Moville, and all the little places in between. you will love it there. There are no huge crowds and the northwest is a very friendly place to visit.

If you want the genuine Irish experience then stay away from the south of Ireland. It is very touristy down there and every pub you go into will have been visited by lots of backpackers and tourists before you. The North of ireland will give you a better experience. The towns along the Antrim Coast are wonderful...so cushendall, cushendun, bushmills etc. If you want the real genuine ireland head to county fermanagh or tyrone...they say they are the 2 last unspoilt counties.
My paticular favorite town is Portaferry Co. Down. The people are very friendly. It is perhaps one of the most scenic towns in ireland and it has a number of EXCELLENT pubs. Also...if you get bored you can hop on the ferry and cross the lough and go to Strangford...another quaint town. It is a very quiet and peaceful region away from the hustle and bustle of the stuffed leprechan and inflatable shamrock towns.

Take the N69 out of Limerick city, and just follow it. Lots of small towns in this area! And most small towns have pubs. Allow yourself to get lost while driving, and you can always ask around for a Bed & Breakfast when you find a place you like. This you can do around now, not really during June, July, August or the first half of September as it's still pretty busy.

We visited Ireland in June and found some very interesting little towns that I wished we had more time to spend in - among them: Sixmilebridge in Co. Clare; Kilrush on the west coast; Ballina on the River Shannon and Tipperary.
We rented a car (very scary on narrow roads, driving on the 'wrong' side of the road) so we didn't visit many pubs for fear of driving drunk.

Cushedall, Cushendun, both on the antrim coast road. I highly recommend Frank Owens' in Limavady too!

The aran Islands they are really quite but nice. Galway is also nice its a city but not really big nothing like Dublin and its great there. There are also a lot of little places outside Galway that are nice also.

Kilkenny, or Westport, or aywhere in county Sligo, DOnegal or Clare.
