How do you feel about all this negative energy pointed at us? I mean why do people have to hate anything. If other religions were more Christian than us than why all the hate and fighting... Didn't Jesus say to love thy enemies... I am a convert and I love my church but I also care about others too. I don't hate one religion, no one. I don't speak anti anything. All I want to know is why all the hate??? I mean if people don't like the church than oh well, but to have all this angry and confusion is driving me to insanity. Why do people hate the religion so much? Maybe something evil is driving this hate...? What do you guys think?

This is for only LDS members. Please no Anti anything... (kinda defeats the purpose of the question...)

Actually I live in utah for and for the first part of my life (until I was 18/19) I was not LDS. I know what it is like and it really wasn't hard to not be hateful. And for those that say that I don't want people saved, why don't they go look in James chapter 2. That should answer that question...

Of course all the negativity is hard to take...but in my mind, I expect it. I know the gospel is true. Guess who else knows that? Satan. He knows it's true. And what is his ultimate goal? To make us, God's children, as miserable as he is... and he will succeed if he can keep us away from the truth, which is the everlasting gospel of Jesus Christ.
I think there are many "reasons" people do not like the church or do not accept the gospel, but I believe all those reasons stem from one - satan. I do not mean to say that people who are not LDS are "evil". I do not think that in the least. BUT, I do believe he has had some type of influence over them that leads them away or keeps them away from the gospel. He tempts us all, he works on everyone, mormon or not. That is why it is SO important to constantly be feeding our testimonies and doing things in our lives that will invite the spirit in.
It is interesting to me when people say "I was a member then I found out the truth"... the sad thing is, they had the truth right in front of them and for one reason or another, did not see it.
I love the gospel and love being a member of this church. I know it is Christ's church and that HE is the leader. I love the prophet and his counselors. I am thankful that I can be part of an eternal family.

Many people find it very easy to condemn anything that does not conform to their ideas. Instead of investigating and finding out how similar we are, they take our differences and build on that. They also listen to others who do not know anything, and pretend that those people are experts, and know everything. Satan is egging them on, encouraging them to be antagonistic.

It also doesn’t help when ministers get up and spout off anti-Mormon rhetoric from their pulpits. They should be Christian; but they think they are doing us a favor. They think the Christian thing to do is to convert us, not knowing that we are already converted.

I seriously doubt that non-Mormons living in Utah would face anything more than they face in the other 50 states. But, perhaps there is more religion in Utah than elsewhere. Only 62% of the population of the state is LDS (and that percentage is shrinking), which means there are a lot of folks who aren’t. I know that the Church works extensively with other religions in the state to help feed the homeless and needy. They do not restrict their efforts only to members of the Church. The Catholic church has a growing membership in Utah.

I’ve been a member for over 30 years, and have found more hate on Yahoo message boards than I have ever faced in person. I am ready to stop checking these boards for that reason. I just don’t like the hate that I find here.

Look into Church History. It has been that way from the beginning. Read the series "The Work and The Glory" it is based on real events.

P.S.
Why on earth would a non-LDS person want to live in Utah?

Oh actually I remember a teacher telling me once that the church had said this on name respect and ettiquite: We can be called "Mormons" and it's okay. and we can say you are a "Mormon" and I am a "Mormon". "Mormonism" is also okay, because that is our "ism." we couldn't say we practice Latter-Day-Saintism, see? what they don't want us to call it is "the Mormon church" or "I am a part of the LDS Church." As for "LDS," because the whole acronym would be so long it would defeat the purpose, "LDS" alone is fine. By stating that we are LDS, we imply that we are latter day saints of the Church of Jesus Christ. It still is proper and shows respect. Even though many other names acceptable, of course the most respect would indeed be to state that we are members of the "Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day saints." Or just "we belong to the Church of Jesus Christ" to simplify haha. hope that was understandable and that it helped! have a good night!

I'm lds. it's just a fact of life. we will always be hated by somebody for something. don't worry about it. You shouldn't even try and fix the problem. just forget about it. you only have to worry about how christ judges you. What will he think if you made "this" choice or "that" choice. or if you believed "this" certain doctrine.

And we shouldnt blame people for the severe persecution saints faced so long ago. it happened and it's over. learn from history. If everyone thought there should be a reward, compensation or recognition for what happened 150 years ago, everyone would be able to ask for it. We aren't the only ones that have been persecuted.

people hate things that are different from them. our church has been ridiculed from the binging. i believe that we are put down because we are the right church. it says in the scriptures that we will be mocked. we are always going to be mocked by others. i do not hate any other churches ether. i figure let them believe how they want to believe. if they want to learn about the the LDS church i am more that happy to share that with them but until they want it, it will not do any good to preach to them.

I'm an ex-LDS member. I'm not anti-everything, I'm anti-false. I came to believe that doctrines of the LDS church is false and that the Book of Mormon is not equal to the Bible. Then there is the ranking system under people, which is unbiblical and is causing big problems. Believing this doesn't make me evil or hateful. I am now into mainstream-Christianity. LDS is an American-only kind of perversion of the real Gospel of Christ. I believe in the Trinity (one God): Jesus is God, The Father is God, and the Holy Spirit is God

Most of us hate what is different from ourselves....plus, if the LDS religion is true.... It would of course be nicer if we could all get along, but just pick what side of the fence you are on and do your best to live up to what you know to be true.

Here's a link on what Pres. Hinckley says......

The main thing I object to is the use of other books as scripture. Only the Bible is holy. The other books are not. As for Mormon people, I find them to be decent, family-oriented folks. I am not the judge of anyone. I can only say what is right in MY heart, and that is to follow only the Bible.

You are LDS and you get tired of all the hate at your different beliefs?

Huh. Clearly you are not a non-LDS person living in Utah. Then you might think differently on the matter.
