I have a brother who is 17years old and just got a job but my mother don't make him pay the bills like she do me. I know I'm old enought to help out which I don't mind but I feel like he should be helping too!!

YES I AM IN COLLEGE FULL TIME! WHEN I WAS 16YRS OLD I HAD TO WORK AND HELP OUT WIT THE BILLS! AND MY BROTHER JUS GOT THIS SECOND JOB AND ALREADY SAYING HE DONT LIKE IT..BUT IS IT FAIR THAT MY MOTHER HAVE HER MONEY AND DOES W/E SHE WANTS LIKE GET HER NAILS DONE, SHOPPING, GET HER HAIR DONE..BUT SHE SUPPOSE TO B STRUGGN WIT THE BILLS?????? I DONT THINK SO!!!! LIKE I SAID I DONT MIND HELPING OUT BUT I DONT THINK ITS FAIR!!!! MY MOTHER N FATHER GOT ME A CAR FOR GRADUATION AND SHE CAR I WANT, I HAVE TO BUY ON MY OWN!!!! Were you working at 17? And were you paying bills? If so, then I would bring it to her attention, ask her what the difference is between him and you? Maybe because he just started though she's letting him get the feel of having a job and trying to see if he is going to keep it or not. But if you werent paying bills at his age, just wait a while and see what happens, have a talk with her and let her know how you feel, that your nineteen and want spending money of your own also, both of you are getting a feel of what responsibility is. Be thankful they are just bills and not like the rent or car note or anything like that. Becoming an adult is nice but wheew its expensive and stressful, just enjoy being home dont be in a rush to get out because you think you can make it on your own since your already paying these few bills. Help your mom out and be proud that you are able to. Not alot of people are capable of working.

your 19 your considered an adult at 18 maybe your parents feel they are getting you ready for when you get your own place you hvae to pay your own bills then and unless you have a spouse nobodys gonna help you out there im sure when your brother turns 18 they will make him do the same

Most of the bills? Who's bills? Why not move out if you can afford most of the bills.

either pay them there, or move on your own

he's 17 , in school- are you in school ? that in itself would make a difference.....
Did you mom hit you up the minute you got a job? doubtful.
