fever blisters, cold sores, whatever people want to call them, they are all the same thing....the herpes virus. There are over the counter products available, with varying degrees of effectiveness, personally I use Abreva. You can also get medication from your doctor made with acyclovir called Valtrex, rather pricey at an average of five dollars a pill. But when it comes down to it, there is no cure, and the sores will fade an heal with or without treatment. And they will recur too, there is no cure. Be sure not to participate in oral sex at any time, because whether you have a lesion or not, you can pass the virus, and your partner won't thank you for genital herpes.

The above is correct...It is Herpes Simplex I (Genital is referred to as Herpes Simplex II) A Prescription medication that is WONDERFUL and works VERY quickly is Denavir. You could get the RX from your MD or DDS.
