I want to get married in the temple. Am I able to wear a wedding dress? Or do I have to wear the long white gown? I'm not going to be getting married for some time, but am curious.

What a lot a girls have been doing lately is just getting married in their temple dress and then wearing their "wedding dress" later at the reception and for pictures and stuff... In my opinion, it is more special if you are wearing your temple dress and also, you wear all your temple clothing anyways so your wedding dress would be mostly covered up. Also, if your wedding dress isn't long sleeved and high-necked you will have to wear inserts so it meets the standards. There are some beautiful temple dresses, I love mine! Many of my friends and my younger sis who have recently been married wore their temple dress.
But, of course, it's up to you... I think it is just easier to wear your temple dress to get married in...then everytime you go back to the temple, it is special because you were sealed in that dress to your lovely spouse!

Yes you can wear your wedding gown but not a veil. Your dress has to be fairly high in the neck and long sleeves. They have inserts for you to wear if the dress doesn't cover enough. Like, if your dress is short sleeved, they have arm covers or a dickey if the neckline is too low. I had my dress altered to make the neck and back higher and it was totally garment ready, but I still had to wear the dickey. And then with all the cerimonial clothing that goes over your clothes, you really can't even see what you're wearing. Seeing as wedding dresses aren't usually the most comfortable things ever and often have long trains to lug around, if I were doing it over, I'd just wear a temple dress for the ceremony, then change into my wedding gown for pictures.

you can only get married in the temple if you are both mormon, and the only people that may attend are mormons. but yes you may wear a wedding dress in the temple (barring any veil or hat), but it has to have long sleves and high neakline and all sheer fabric must be lined and the dress should have no train or at least have a way for the train to be bustled up. And no recording or filming is allowed in any mormon temple. The rings are not excanged during the ceremony but rather than in a sealing room immeditaly after the ceremony unless you choose to have a simple ring ceremony at the reception so non mormon family members and friends may witness this.

It depends on what your wedding dress looks like.

It must be long, cover your arms and shoulders, not be see thru, no train, and not be real ostentacious. And no slits. My dress had a slit up the back, from floor to knees and about five inches from the neckline to the top of the zipper, and I had to be sewn into it. But, they will do that for you. The temple workers will try very hard to make it possible for you to wear your own wedding gown. Even if you can't wear it for your endowments, you can at least wear it for the sealing.

I don´t see why you can not wear a wedding dress just because you are going to be married in a temple.

You'll have to talk to the officiant about this. There are different rules for every different church. Some wont allow strapless gowns, or too revealing gowns, etc...

The officiant can tell what is and what isn't allowed at the temple.
