I am aware of the passages in Leveticus. Don't bother quoting that to me.

I'd like something a bit deeper than: "It's an abomination!"
Why should this bother a being of infinite power?
Why should it bother you, what your neighbour is doing in the privacy of his home?
With all the suffering in the world, why should it matter at all?

Leviticus 18:22 is probably among the most egregiously misinterpreted verses in the entire Bible. It is important to note that those who would use this, or any other passage in the Bible, as a weapon of condemnation, neglect two fundamental points:

1.) God claims as His own, the EXCLUSIVE right to judge any creature. To wit: The Gospel of Matthew, chapter 7, verses 1 and 2, “Judge not lest ye be judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.”

2.) From a simply practical point of view, it is incumbent upon any person who would quote the Bible to recognize that not a single version exists today that is true to the original text; that has not been corrupted by politically motivated interpretation over the centuries of its examination and translation. To believe that any version of the Bible in existence today is the true and un-corrupted Word of God is pure ignorance and denial.

Personally, I have never believed in having blind faith. I am a Pagan because Nature speaks to me in truths, not in translations.

The final point I would make here is that again, those who would quote so-called “anti-homosexual” passages are in plain denial of the rather glaring homoeroticism that permeates the Old and New Testaments, in contexts which lead the open-minded scholar to believe, and rather without question, that certain homosexual relationships in the Bible not only existed, but were indeed blessed by the All Mighty.

The story of David and Jonathan, for instance, is perhaps most famously the benchmark of Biblical homoeroticism. The book of 1 Samuel is laced with connotation that David and Jonathan were, at the very least, “soul mates;” indeed, that they loved each other as if they were one, “Jonathan became one in spirit with David” (1 Samuel 18:1). And when in the course of battle Jonathan was struck down, David laments him most famously in 2 Samuel, chapter 1, verse 26, saying: “…thy love was sweeter than wine, surpassing that of even women.”

There is also a great deal of discourse on the subject of the New Testament relationship of Christ himself and His disciple Jonathan. But I won’t touch on that here…much too sensitive a topic I suspect for our fundamentalist friends.

To summarize, whichever version of the Bible you read, there is both condemnation and acceptance on this, and many other subjects, each aspect owing itself to how the reader interprets the passage. The truth of God’s position on homosexuality is what is in YOUR heart. If you are gay, and you believe…and are rather affirmed in your belief…that God loves and accepts you, then that is what is true. There is no sin in love. That truth is simple. And it is universal, no matter what holy writ you ascribe your beliefs to.

ok ppl.. seriously... all you religious ppl need to tear down the facades that u have carefully designed and think for urselves not from the bible. god gave you a brain for a reason. if he wanted you to think from the bible 24/7 then he would have stuffed the bible in there, not that brain. and im seriously sick of the "god made adam and eve not adam and steve" argument. all you ppl who use this argument should know that eve was created from one of adam's rib bones so... in a way she is part male and therefore could be viewed as homosexuality not being a sin. and whoever said that you could repent for being gay and making it all better, thats not even close to being true. thats like repenting for being a boy or a girl. and being gay is NOT a result of a traumatic experience. thats just an excuse. and it doesnt undermine families because im pretty sure that the entire population of the world isnt gay. DUH. use ur brains ppl. there are still plenty of straight couples that are having kids. whoever used that argument is just stupid. and that same person... a healthy home is what the parents make it out to be. a homosexual couple can be just as healthy a family as any heterosexual couple. and if being gay is a sin then why isnt being mexican or black, or oriental a sin?? cuz i am pretty sure that adam and eve werent all these different races.

….I NEVER PRESUME TO SPEAK FOR HIM!!!

I love the "reason" to be against it is that it's just gross...LMAO

You all have a great impact on the world...people see you for what you really are. One day you will figure that out.

Oh, and if I am flaunting my gayness and you don't like it...stay home and out of my bedroom!

As far as the schmuck with the ill-thought family issue..really...read a little more, open you mouth a little less...oh, and not just the passages in the Bible that you like...if that is all you are going to read, then damn it, read the whole thing, please.

It undermines families, which is the foundation of any society - and if we are honest we know that it does great psychological ( and possibly physical) harm to those that practice it. It also is nearly always the result of trauma in a person's life.
The average homosexual man has over 200 partners in his lifetime - that cannot be anything but destructive.
It is a sin against a person's own body, and as such is destructive and grievous.
It is against God's order and design - we have become desensitized and have slowly promoted it under the banner of tolerance - two men or two women are not what a young child needs to have a healthy home - its only confusing and misguided. There is a right and wrong.

erm, i totally agree that god is hardly focused on gays and condemning them as opposed to some of self proclaimed representatives of his holiness. erh, two, animals do that too and they procreate too. seems like homosexuality is been around since the beginning of time but ppl just didn't bother a lot to look at it. they just took it with a pinch of salt.
it's been done before! over and over...

Suffering is a by-product of "sin." Homosexuality is a perversion of God's natural order. It goes totally against His order of creation, it is an abominable sin. Listen clearly to what God's Word says on this issue. It's in many more verses than just Leviticus. The book of Proverbs says "Evil walks on every side when the vilest of men are exalted." I should not have to explain God's Words / meaning. You who have ears, hear. Also, it is not a compliment to one's character to question the Lord's moral ethics. He is the Potter, we are the clay. The clay does not tell the Potter how to mold it.

I think its ridiculous on both sides. Homosexuality is being used as the posterchild for sin. And on the other side of the coin, they represent 5-7% of us and have every single person talking about them; making a big deal cause their gay.) Let's move on, people.

Homosexuality is clearly condemned by the Bible. It goes against the created order of God. He created Adam and then made a woman. This is what God has ordained and it is what is right. Unlike other sins, homosexuality has a severe judgment administered by God Himself. This judgment is simple: They are given over to their passions. That means that their hearts are allowed to be hardened by their sins (Romans 1:18ff). As a result, they can no longer see the error of what they are doing. Without an awareness of their sinfulness, there will be no repentance and trusting in Jesus. Without Jesus, they will have no forgiveness. Without forgiveness, there is no salvation.

What should be the Christian's Response to the Homosexual?

Just because someone is a homosexual does not mean that we cannot love him (or her) or pray for him (her). Homosexuality is a sin and like any other sin, it needs to be dealt with in the only way possible. It needs to be laid at the cross, repented of, and never done again.
As a Christian, you should pray for the salvation of the homosexual the same you would any other person in sin. The homosexual is still made in the image of God -- even though he is in grave sin. Therefore, you should show him same dignity as anyone else you come in contact with. However, this does not mean that you are to approve of their sin. Don't compromise your witness for a socially acceptable opinion that is void of godliness.

OK, forget the Bible for a moment. 1) The body is not designed for it. 2) The anal cavity is designed for exit, not entry and continuous anal entry can cause permanent harm.
3) God invented Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve. 4) The bodies of opposite sexes are designed for sex with each other, not for sex with the same gender. 5) The thought of "coupling " with another man is just plain gross! 6) I could go on, shall I?
