I grew up on Long Island.. which basically sits in the shadow of New York City. I've always had access to the city.. where I ended up moving after college. I've lived in NYC for four months now and I admit, I love the stimulation, the ability to do anything at any hour, and all the people to meet here.

.... but.. past the late nights at the bars (which aren't always my thing), the museums, the broadway shows... I always wish I was out doing something else. Whether downhill skiing, horseback riding, driving down a secluded wooded road with the windows wide open.. etc. I can't tell if I'm in the wrong place, or whether everybody who lives in a major city has the desire for an open road and more space.

Part of my question to you city-goers. What keeps you in the city? I can't tell if the reasons I want to leave are because my heart's not here or if I need a vacation...(!)

Can anybody give me some input? Thanks!

You can have the best of two worlds. I know that you cannot
take the country entirely out of the girl. I grew up in the country
and moved to the city when I was 19. I love both parts. I have
returned to the country because there are things here that just
can't be had in a large city. I am less than an hour from the city, so I am happy with this.
