I won't attempt to dispute that homosexual drive is a choice, but I will dispute that GIVING IN to homosexual urges, proclivities, tendencies, temptations are a choice just as surely as giving in to heterosexual urges are.

why would someone CHOSE a lifestyle that causes them to be discriminated against:
No one does that. WE RESPOND TO WHAT WE RELATE TO. There are people in the world that hate you for ANY & EVERYTHING. Discrimination is alive and well and will be around until the end of time.
... risk being a victim of a violent hate crime,:
There is nothing that can really be done about that. People act out of ignorance. Are homosexuals the ONLY victims of hate crimes?
...and ostracize themselves from their family and/or loved ones?":
Why? What is family for if you're going to run from them? Some family members may not accept your decision and turn on you. That is their problem correct? Because this is who you are, right? Which brings me to my next point.
The main word is CHOOSE. A person may choose to be gay, but, not choose to be a victim of a hate crime, or, discrimination. It just comes with the territory.
CHOICE; FREE WILL...
The same thing that keeps a Christian going is what keeps homosexuals going:
THE CHOICE TO ENDURE. Christians CHOOSE to follow Christ, Christians DON'T CHOOSE to be persecuted or discriminated against. It just comes with the territory!

I don't really know if homosexuality is a choice or not. I DO know that God calls it sin. So it should be a matter of whether or not the person is practicing homosexuality. It's just as much a sin to be having sex out of marriage. Yet, Christians don't seem to frown on that as badly. We seem to pick and choose sins now days. You've inspired me to post a question.

Whatever influences a person to be homosexual (usually a weak father and dominant mother) is beyond their control, especially in the formative years. But, the real choice is engaging in a lifestyle of homosexual activity, which is perverse, very self destructive (nevermind persecution) and only serves to reinforce and perpetuate the perverse nature in society. That's why they are going to work on young people now in the schools, to perpetuate the sin because there is something dark behind the homosexual that seeks to spread its will to others.

I agree all the way! It makes me so mad when they say it isn't a choice, because it is. The Bible clearly says Homosexuality is sin, and why would God make one of his children be born into a path of sin? No one is "born gay" they act like it's some kind of disease they're both with or something, and it's not.. It's a choice, and personally.. I find it to be a cry for attention.

That's a very valid point and I am glad that you posted this question. Homosexuality is a choice and it's a choice that goes against the Bible. I believe that we are all sinners, but there is a difference in sinning and asking for forgiveness so that you can change your ways and blatantly living in sin. Homosexuality is blatantly living in sin and is clearly stated in the Bible to be an abomination to God.

There are different reasons that homosexuals are "persecuted" by the general public. Some are based on religious beliefs and some are not. I believe that most backlash comes from people's aggrivation of having homosexuality stuffed down their throats (he he) by the liberal media, and by those homosexuals that make their lifestyle a public issue. If gay people would just lead their lives like normal people and keep their sexual preferences in the bedroom, people wouldn't be so aggrivated by them. Instead, the meadia promotes it every chance it gets and the homosexuals parade in the streets, looking and dressing like idiots. Most people don't care that others are gay as long as those people conduct themselves with class in public and don't throw it in everyone's face.

Christians choose a life of persecution in order to follow Christ Who is the Way,the Light and the Truth, homosexuals choose a life of persecution as you put it in order to fulfill a sexual desire that is abnormal in the extreme.
It is not just the fact that Homosexuality is wrong from the Christian standpoint in respect of the Bible,
it is wrong from the moral standpoint as well,we only have to look at the behavior of homosexuals in these times to see how it has degenerated down the road of immorality, an added element of perversity has marked it out as more of a social evil than ever before.
Blatent homosexuals now prance up and down the major roads and highways of Europe and America dressed in paraphanalia that mocks all that decent people hold dear.
We have seen Nazi type dress and symbols, males and females dressed as clerics and Nuns, some even dress as school children and when normal people complain they are rediculed and told to be tolerant, the jibe is, we homosexuals are in your face so tough!
What we see then is not just a movement looking for some kind of respectability in society, but a movement hell bent on anarchy at any price.
We are bombarded with media coverage and force- fed the lie that this is freedom of love and expression, that it is on a par with the normal union of male and female which brought them into the world in the first place.
The great champion of homosexuality is of course Atheism which by it`s dysfuctional and rebellious nature makes great effort to pull God and Christianity down yet all the while seeks it`s authentication by preposing that there is no God at all.
Therefore it is remarkably illogical in it`s fabric and illogical in it`s claims and is the antithesis of all that is held pure and good by Christianity, and in turn the very reason why both are mortal enemies.
The Christian who accepts homosexuality and atheism as legitamite foundations has in fact compromised with the spirit of this world whom Christ has condemned and overcome.

Our entire lives are made up of our choices !! If you plant pea seeds you get peas.....not corn.......if you plant corn seeds you get corn, not beets. We are what we choose to be. God has given men and women a free will. We can choose His way or our way. But we will reap what we sow. If we have planted bad seed we will have a bad crop.......like those who destroy their bodies thru drugs.......but if we plant good seeds we will get a good crop....! Many choose to live with the Lord, and are suffering terrible persecution. Yet, that is a choice they made, full well knowing it would involve persecution and alienation from their loved ones and peers.

There is actually no middle ground. There are only really sister, two choices laid before us. We choose Life or Death. The wages of sin.. be it homosexuality, disobedience to parents, to lusting after someone in your mind has its source and root in satan. Sin is inherited. Its manifested in sins of all kinds. It also has only one remedy. The Blood Of Jesus Christ.
Today we all are faced with the choice. Even as believers have the choice to live a life for ourselves and according to the flesh or we can choose to live a life according to the Spirit.
It actually goes a lot deeper i believe sister. A sinner has to sin. Its what we do as a sinner. We are not a sinner because we sin. We sin because we are sinners.
But my thought goes to us as believers who have " chosen" to follow Christ. Knowing that with it comes persecution for the name of Jesus. This is our portion but unlike someone enslaved by sin, we gain the Lord as our highest reward. We lay Hold onto that which is really life. The Eternal Life.
So positionally we can be a christian and claim the Lord as our choice. But what about everyday. The real choosing sister is how we live. Who do we live out. Is it no longer I but Christ who lives in me?
For myself I need to answer this crucial question and ask myself.. Lord am I really giving you the way that You need to go the distance in me? Are you my label or my reality.
Sister.. I thank You for your thought provoking, well put question to us today. May we all truly see the real worth of bearing the Name of Jesus as our identity and choice. That those around us will really have a way to not just contact us as people, but have a way to contact the Christ that is in us.
Great Q sweet sister
ur sis
