Although the hermit in the woods may well be worthy of trust, the Pope was chosen through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
John 21:15-17 states:
When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." He said to him, "Feed my lambs."
He then said to him a second time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." He said to him, "Tend my sheep."
He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter was distressed that he had said to him a third time, "Do you love me?" and he said to him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you." (Jesus) said to him, "Feed my sheep.
Matthew 16:17-19 states:
Jesus said to him in reply, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."
The Catholic Church believes the Lord made Simon alone, whom he named Peter, the "rock" of his Church. He gave him the keys of his Church and instituted him shepherd of the whole flock.
The Pope is the senior pastor of 1.1 billion Catholics, the direct successor of Simon Peter.
The Pope’s main roles include teaching, sanctifying, and governing.
A Papal Conclave works like this:
+ A pope dies and is buried
+ The cardinals come to Rome for the conclave that will elect the new pope. The word conclave (Latin, *** + clavis, literally, "locked with the key") designates:
. • The place in a locked section of the Vatican where the cardinals elect a new pope.
. • The actual gathering of the cardinals.
+ The conclave begins 15 to 20 days after the pope's death.
+ The cardinals pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit during a Mass
+ The cardinals, sealed in the Sistine Chapel, vote every morning and afternoon.
+ A two-thirds majority plus one is required for election for the first 30 ballots. After that, a simple majority is required.
+ After each vote, they burn the ballots and add special chemicals to make the smoke white or black.
. • Black smoke means no new pope yet.
. • White smoke announces the election of a new pope.
+ The cardinals may elect any baptized male they wish. There have been occasions in the past where they have elected a layman. After their election, the layman has to be ordained priest and bishop.
+ They ask the one elected if he accepts. The moment he accepts, he is pope.
+ The pope chooses his “Papal” name.
+ Then the new pope is announced to the world.

he's now not significant. human beings in easy terms blindly persist with him. yet i will do all a similar issues he can and that i'm not greater holy than he's. playstation : At one time everybody believed the worldwide became flat. a million Billion followers, believing a similar subject does not immediately make the perception basically immediately, does it? it may basically make for rather some puzzled human beings all believing a similar incorrect information. for that reason, there are greater beneficial than a million billion Muslims contained in the worldwide and over 800 Million followers of the Hindu faith. So why do Catholics boast approximately numbers whilst there is now not something to be happy with? in step with possibility a million Billion is the form of paedophiles the pope has hidden worldwide too?

Because a bunch of guys who are supposedly close to god decided he was the one they wanted in charge... or at least to be the public face of the organization.
I'd trust that hermit in the woods more than the Pope myself, especially this one.

The Popes are believed to be the successor to the Apostle Peter. St. Peter's Basilica in Rome is said to be built on the burial site of St. Peter. Christ told Simon Peter that he would use him to build his church and gave him the Keys to the Kingdom. These are said to pass from pope to pope much like a monarchy passes from heir to heir.

He is the pope because he was elected to that office. Now,it is nowhere in the bible but that is why he is what he is. And as such he has absolute authority to dispensethe dictates of God on the Catholic population. I think he has God on speed dial or in his top 5 or something. Aparently when the pope speaks it has come as if it were right from God and he has no fallibility to his people.

(Ecclesiastical Latin papa from Greek papas, a variant of pappas father, in classical Latin pappas -- Juvenal, "Satires" 6:633).
The title pope, once used with far greater latitude (see below, section V), is at present employed solely to denote the Bishop of Rome, who, in virtue of his position as successor of St. Peter, is the chief pastor of the whole Church, the Vicar of Christ upon earth.
Besides the bishopric of the Roman Diocese, certain other dignities are held by the pope as well as the supreme and universal pastorate: he is Archbishop of the Roman Province, Primate of Italy and the adjacent islands, and sole Patriarch of the Western Church. The Church's doctrine as to the pope was authoritatively declared in the Vatican Council in the Constitution "Pastor Aeternus". The four chapters of that Constitution deal respectively with the office of Supreme Head conferred on St. Peter, the perpetuity of this office in the person of the Roman pontiff, the pope's jurisdiction over the faithful, and his supreme authority to define in all questions of faith and morals.

Roman Catholic Church (moved to Rome by Peter after he fled Jerusalem) was founded by God-made-man, Jesus Christ. He said: "Thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build My Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it... Feed my lambs; feed My sheep" (Matt. 16:18,19; John 21:15,17). He also said: "He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who gathers not with me scatters" (Matt.12:30).
Around or about 45 AD, Peter went to Rome and from there lead the Catholic Church. As of today, there have been 263 Popes in direct succession to Peter. The position of Pope was established by Christ and the office has been maintained in an apostolic manner since the time of Christ. Although the Church has fragmented since the time of Christ with various leadership centers emerging, the apostolic line of succession in the Church is seated in Rome until this very day. Many throughout time have tried to rationalize away and deny the authority and structure of the Church as established by Jesus. The Catholic Church is the Church established by Jesus and has maintained a clear line of apostolic leadership to this very day. The Church has celebrated the sacraments and worshiped the Lord in essentially the same way since the time of Christ.

The current pope was elected by his fellow spiritual leaders. He was selected because he had previously been the 'go-to' guy for all of the claims against the catholic church of sexual abuse of minors.
So, they put the chief 'cover-up' guy in charge, knowing that he wouldn't reveal anything and keep them all out of jail.

There is no "pope" in the bible. The catholic cult stole him from paganism. Peter wasn't a "pope". Nobody went to Peter for answers. Peter had no authority over any church leaders.
Catholics are not saved and are not Christians. Catholics believe a false gospel of works that leads to eternal hell.
