You can take ibuprofen to reduce inflammation, and an antihistamine if you have an allergic reaction. No medical treatment is needed unless there is a severe allergic reaction or the bite gets infected. None of the centipedes in North America cause more than intense stings. Some centipedes in the Pacific Rim can cause tissues deep under the skin to die - these types of bites usually need antibiotics and drains.

Their bite can be nasty and poisonous to other insects or small animals, but not to people. You may however have a reaction at the site of the bite. If you start feeling ill or have problems breathing, you should get to an ER right away. There have not really been any cases of serious injury or death due to these bites, but just be careful and watch for symptoms. I hate those things and am terrified of them. Never been bitten, but still the freak me out. Good luck
