Anybody used the allergy shots?

Question

I just went to the allergy doctor for the first time. I have allergies to dust, mold, ragweed, dogs and cats. I also have asthma and have had asthma attacks caused by my allergies to cats. So the doc is recommending allergy shots. Anyone have them and think they work? She said it will take a total of 5 years of the shots. At first you go once or twice a week to eventually you go just once a month for five years.

yes i did. i had my back all pricked up and showed that i was allergic to almost everything but milk chocolate and eggs!! I went for shots once a week for a while then twice a week for a while then every 3rd month then every month. I was 15 when i started because I broke out with hives on my face and all over my body! I stopped getting them after I turned 18 because I was working full time and had a boyfriend (who I'm married to now) and I felt that I didn't need them anymore because I wasn't having allergy problems anymore! 5 years later and my allergies are starting up again so I probably should have stayed with them! But then again I had a baby a year ago and the hormones from being pregnant could have started my allergies up again.
Definitely get them, they will most likely help you alot! It brought me alot of relief!

Shots took care of my sensitivity to cats. My eyes would turn red and water if I even got near a cat. Now I live with two cats and handle them without a problem. The shots were administer every two weeks for about four moths.

I took allergy shots for a couple of years and then I stopped getting them because I didn't feel like I was really improving. I still have my bad allergies, but I deal with them.

I had allergy shots. They helped me a lot. However, my series of shots lasted nine years. It was two years before I could tell an improvement.
