Nah, nothing weird about it -- he's just appreciating a sense of order, and exploring it. My son lines up his cars now and then. Sometimes I help him, but put one upside-down or backwards or sideways. He corrects it, usually with a gentle "no, daddy!"

I don't think so; my 2 1/2 year old son does this a lot recently. Last night he took his letter/ numbers off of the refrigerator and lined them up in the entry hall. Also last night, he took some pennies and lined them up on the table (he was making a "train", lol) and then took all of the red, square Mega Blocks and stacked them up together. I think it's normal, definitely not weird.

This isn't weird at all, I think it is pretty neat myself. If this is the only "weird" thing he does than consider your nephew blessed.
I wish people would back off the Autism diagnosis, it scares people, this is very common to line up and stack things, all 5 of my children did this. If the child had autism there would be other things showing as well, like one answer said, we are not Dr.'s.

Not really pretty common, now if they seem to get really upset when you move the items. Or if they insist having everything lined up all the tim and do not grow out of it than maybe I would start doing research. But hay maybe you just a well orginized child lol. NOT a bad thing.

This behavior is often a reflection of his parents/guardians. When children have a lot of order and structure in their lives, they become aware of neatness like this. Sounds like his parents are doing a good job of teaching him the importance of scheduling and cleanliness. And lining up things like match box cars is very common in boys. They love to stare at the differences of the cars once they are lined up.

First, don't let people on here scare you into thinking he's autistic. This is a sign of autism, but there are other factors besides this. Most people on here aren't doctors and cannot diagnose autism. My son is 2 1/2 and likes to line things up, but is not autistic. Alot of children like lining things up.

Not weird at all! Kids put things into groups. Sometimes it's perfectly obvious what the groups are and sometimes it's only obvious to the kid.

Still - could be a genius!

My daughter does that and she's only 1 and a half. It's natural. He's learning how to group things by likeness. Sounds like an intelligent little boy. encourage him!

It's normal --- they all do that. And don't think for a second that being a parent to a "genuis" is easy because it's far from it!!! My nephew is a "genius" and it wasn't easy for the parents -- plus now he hasn't lived up to everyone else's expectations because of his brains so he's looked down upon...although he's doing okay.

It just depends on other behaviors he might be showing. If he is just lining things up then I wouldn't be concerned. Maybe he is a little genius.
