A hen comes to a fork in the road and doesn't know which path to take to reach her destination. There are two foxes at the fork, one whom always lies whilst the other always tells the truth. The hen doesn't know which is which. She may ask one of the foxes only one question to find her way. What is the question and which fox does she ask?

I don't know the answer I'm afraid... that's why I've asked. It was printed on the pack of a coaster at the pub I was just at.

This is what I found
A hiker comes to a fork in the road and doesn't know which way to go to reach his destination. There are two men at the fork, one of whom always tells the truth while the other always lies. The hiker doesn't know which is which, though. He may ask one of the men only one question to find his way. Which man does he ask, and what is the question?
Answer:
Either man should be asked the following question: "If I were to ask you if this is the way I should go, would you say yes?" While asking the question, the hiker should be pointing at either of the directions going from the fork.

if you was the other fox which path would you tell me to take
i believe it doesnt matter which :
if the hen ask the truth telling fox it would tell her the wrong the path cause that is where the lie telling fox would tell her to go so the hen would do the oppsite
if the hen asked the fox that lies it would still tell her the wrong path cause it would lie about where the truth telling fox would tell the hen to go
get it.

Ask either fox which way the other fox would tell you to go. If he tells the truth the other fox would lie and tell the wrong way. If he is the liar he will lie and say the other fox will tell the wrong way. Once you have asked and it is answered go the opposite way.

the hen has to ask any one of them" which direction will the other show if i ask him for the right direction?"
the lier will definitely show the wrong direction as the truth teller will show the right way.
or the truth teller will honestly show the exact wrong way.
now the chicken knows what direction any one of them shows as the answer of the question she has to take the opposite direction.
