They would HAVE to have faith that when we die, that that it is it, that's all she wrote. They don't know for a fact at all, there isn't a single person alive that knows that as fact so they have faith that it's true. There's no getting around that.
Wheras, faith for believers just come as second nature, they're used to it. So either way, if there is something after death or if there isn't... doesn't make a difference to their life.
But atheists have to KEEP on convincing themselves that there is nothing afterwards. So atheists, technically, have faith in nothing (that definatly doesnt exist) and believers have faith in something (that may exist).
So it would take a lot more faith to believe in nothing than something.

did you people even read the question? Athiests + not knowing what happens after death + irregardless of evidence (doesn't make a difference) + not knowing the truth = F-A-I-T-H that it IS T-R-U-E... you should learn how to learn.

So, we agree that faith doesn't lead one to truth? It's a great place to start.

That seems like a circular argument. And Kirkegaard did it better when he wrote "The Sickness Unto Death".
Atheists, rather than having faith that there is no afterlife instead feel that those suggesting an afterlife haven't provided a convincing argument. They're skeptics, that's all.
But I'm not sure why Christians are always so concerned what other people think. What does it matter to you? I don't know of any atheists who try to force you to agree with them, after all, so what does it matter if they don't believe in the same things you do?

I'm atheist/agnostic.
I don't know what will happen when I die.
I have no evidence. Hence you would call me an agnostic or atheist.
My honesty with myself and others is the reason for my being 'labelled' as an atheist/agnostic.
That's 'honesty'. OK?
Not 'faith', as you assert. It's simple. I have no evidence.
That appears to be the difference between your way of thinking and mine. You seem to have trained yourself to look at the world and everything through the eyes of 'faith'.
You even demonstrate 'faith' in your preconceived belief about *my thoughts* as a so-called 'atheist', and, of course, your 'faith' is wrong in that respect. My answer is honest.
Honesty and facts are my dealings - not 'faith' and 'belief'. I prefer to deal with facts and honesty rather than 'faith and belief' for reasons that you have demonstrated quite elegantly (if unwittingly) right here and now.
i.e. you are wrong about me. I do not have to keep 'convincing' myself about anything. Have you heard the psychological term 'projection'?
EDIT: You BELIEVE that I believe in 'nothing' after death. I don;t know whether to call that your 'belief' or just a lie. But here is your statement:
"But atheists have to KEEP on convincing themselves that there is nothing afterwards"
Well, I don't, so your beliefs about me are either plain wrong, or you are just lying. Now do you see why I prefer facts over your system?
The truth is that I don't KNOW what will happen when I die. I do not have 'faith' in 'nothing' as you claim. Just because you state that I do, doesn't mean it is true.
I am telling you the truth. I do not know what will happen when I die. No-one does. My honesty gets me labelled 'atheist' or 'agnostic' etc by peopl ewho claim to believe in unprovable things which sound suspiciously like myths..
All I have regarding that are lack of facts or evidence.
So I just don't know. You seem to think everyone is a 'believer' or 'faith' based like you. So you believe what you like about me. Even after I told you the facts about me.
That is why you are a believer and I am just honest with myself and feel comfortable in saying 'I don't know'..

Firstly as you said: there isn't a single person alive that knows that as fact so they have faith that it's true. There's no getting around that.
Second: "faith for believers.... if there is something after death or if there isn't... doesn't make a difference to their life."???
BBBBullshit! Why then are they so concerned about salvation/heaven/hell etc?
BTW irregardless isn't a word. you should learn how to learn

But then believers have to KEEP convincing themselves that there is something after death...
Atheists look at the facts and evidence, and there is no evidence that indicates that we have a spirit, soul or that we continue after we died. I accept this as a fact pending further review as new evidence is found, if ever.
No belief or faith is required.

If someone truly has faith in God, then they would have 100 times the faith of an atheist

Nope, the best available evidence takes no faith at all.
There is no evidence that anything happens when you die. So thinking that it will amounts to wishful thinking. Fear of death is a strong motivator to make that up.

That's a complete load of BS and you know it. You're just attempting to bring atheists to your level or lower and it's shameful.
The opposite if blind faith is not faith.

i dont have 'faith' that god doesnt exist. i think its a 100% fact that god doesnt exist, just as i think its a 100% fact that pigs cant fly. you dont need to have faith in the belief that pigs cant fly, you just know they cant. atheism is nothing to do with having faith in a belief.
as i am atheist i dont think about religion. i also dont play golf, so i dont think about that either. get it?
"I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours"- volitare.

It seems you don't know the meaning of atheism.
I certainly dont have to believe that when we die, then that is it. I just don't believe in gods. I make no claims about what happens when I die. Nor do I believe in nothing. I believe in mathematics.
