My PC is new, I don't understand why it doesn't work for the AVI videos.

Nope you don't need to have an extra software. But if there is a problem then you can download any media player like Wndows Media Player or Winamp or Quick Time pick one and download it. Every kind of media players will view Avi videos.

try dowloading VLC player you will love it.
