come up with an argument and not be twisting it around, you can justify anything if you do this. Why not base your opinion on the whole chapter instead of taking bits and pieces form every where .
Is it because if you based your beliefs on a whole chapter, then you would see how many contredictions there are in the bible, and you wouldent have any thing to base your opions on, because then the bible wouldent support your falts beliefs

The Bible does not contradict itself you have to learn to stick with one subject and follow it . There can be many subjects in a verse. Just because the bible is complex and people have trouble figuring it out doesn't mean that it is controdicting itself.

Would you really want us to list the entire chapter in this forum? I base my beliefs on the whole Bible, not just one verse, chapter or book. However, the whole text of the Bible is not always necessary to prove one point. If I want to know what the Bible says about fornication, for example, I can go to several different verses or chapters and find that out, without reading or quoting the entire Bible. Do I really need to start with "In the beginning..." to tell you what the Bible says about fornication?

right on bro. picking out a random verse from the bible is the dumbest way of interpreting it. any tom, dick, and harry can interpret it anyway from here to tulsa. that's why the catholic church originally banned ordinary people from reading, much less studying the bible. this is where the danger to spiritual beliefs really stem from.

take one of the most popularly quoted verses; John 3 : 16. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Interpretation : Which Son? Jesus? or Mohammed? or Buddha? Whose to say that the Son is not Mohammed? The Bible and the Quran both venerate and honor the same Biblical characters.

There are enough biblical contradictions already without muddling up its interpretation.

If you pick a verse out of the Bible there must be a reason for choosing that verse. Also no one should argue about the Bible it makes wonderful sense if you study it enough. If you are interested in God and the Bible then pray for the "truth" about it.God created us and he would not leave us without a way to understand him and what he wants you to do. When you make that prayer do not be suprised at who knocks at your door.!!!Remember you asked for it. All scripture is inspired by God and is bebeficial for all.If you pick a scripture at random remember to use the footnotes and the matching scriptures in the middle of the page. Hope that helped. ladyborn24216@yahoo.com

The Scripture says that the Bible is "...spiritually given and spiritually discerned (understood)..." Basically, it means that given passages can be "twisted" as you aptly put it to support an individual point of view. What makes this interpretation wrong is the MOTIVATION behind it! To get around such things, the Bible says to "....TRY (prove) the spirits (motivation behind interpretation) and see whether they be of God (spiritually discerned, NOT morally adjusted)..." We have to listen to the Word of God as it's being taught and preached, apply it to our lives and see for ourselves that it works in order to be able to PROVE that it works to others instead of shoving it down their throats, or teaching/preaching it to them with personal agendas in mind. Sure, it's our heart's desire to see people saved, but they have to come to grips with their salvation "...with FEAR and TREMBLING (respect for God's call in their lives)..." NOT because someone else says so! The Scripture says that we are NOT to serve God ".....with LIPSERVICE as MENPLEASERS (only to make ourselves look good in others eyes)..." but by TRYING the spirit and seeing that it's of God!

If you assume that the argument of someone who believes in Jesus Christ was based solely on one verse then you would also most likely assume that there were contradictions in the bible.

(Ecclesiastes 12:13-14) Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter. Fear God, and keep His commandments. For this is the whole duty of man.

(Ecc 12:14) For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it is good, or whether evil.

You have to understand the whole counsel of God's word.
You see, many Atheist know the 'text' of the Bible but not it's 'context'
It is easy to take a verse from the bible and make it say whatever you want it to say to fit into your ideology or theology. Many 'alleged' Christians will do this, does not mean it is correct.
