No people left. The planet does not mean much to me if I am not here. Is it really earth if there is no people? Who would call it earth or even know it is a planet? It boils down to the question: If a tree falls in the forest, does it make a sound? (I say no because there is no one to hear it. I say no, because sound only exists how our minds intrepid it.)

I usually take it to mean all life on the planet. That would be the end of Earth the way we know it. People will probably go at some point before that.

Many places such as Psalms 37:9-10 refer to the meek, righteous, good and faithful people staying forever on the earth. So it is not the physical planet to be done away with. Rather it is the wicked systems and people on it.

This planet was created, as told in Genesis, for humans to be in charge or caretakers for. Humans messed up, the planet did not. We have done our best to destroy the planet. God has not done this.

Atomization of the planet.

Only the wicked ones will be destroyed. Revelation 21:8 says “As for the cowards and those without faith and those who are disgusting in their filth and murderers and fornicators and those practicing spiritism and idolaters and all the liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulphur. This means the second death.”
There will be survivors. Ps. 37:34 “Hope in Jehovah and keep his way, and he will exalt you to take possession of the earth. When the wicked ones are cut off, you will see it.”
It will not bring an end to our planet. “The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it.”—Psalm 37:29.

If you're talking to me, I meant people left alive, but the other is a good question too, so I'm not bothered if I wasn't as clear as I should have been on this one.

Obviously, I am more personally invested in humanity's demise.

I'll be more careful in my wording next time!

Far more severe than atomization...the actual non-existence of earth...
After the rapture, the great tribulation, the events surrounding the wrath of God, the millenial reign of Christ and believers, and the battle of Armageddon...after all of this...the faithless will be judged. This is Judgement Day, and it is also the day that heaven and earth will be no more. Consider these passages...
Rev. 20:11: "Then I [John] saw a great white throne and Him [Jesus Christ] who sat upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled away, and no place was found for them."
...and a few verses latter...
Rev. 21:1: "Then I [John] saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away..."

The destruction of the planet - the round thing we live on.

we are not the world, the world is the world, and will be without us, we are a relatively new, rather destructive, and probably rather short lived part of it....

Since a new earth is going to be created, I assume it means destruction of this one.

Souls will go on forever, either eternally with Him or without.
