Publix grocerystores. Why is this not nationwide. I am sick right now with a kidney infection and what is the use of going to the ER if I haven't got the money to pay for the prescriptions? I don't know why this is not every where and the government should offer all of us free anti's if we have no insurance. Has anybody else heard of this?

It's not true.

ONE reason is that's pretty unlikely that most people would be able to pick the correct antibiotic for the infection. Even for UTIs, different bugs (requiring different antibiotics) can cause the infection.

The government DOES cover antibiotics IF you're on Medicaid.

Well first of all I highly doubt they are FREE. Wal-mart has instituted a $4 generic prescription program and some local competitors have done the same in response. This does not just include antibiotics.

Second, antibiotics are incredibly overprescribed and overused in this country. That is one reason that MRSA and other "super bugs" can be created; they gradually adjust to the antibiotics and mutate into versions that are resistant to them.
