Could you please tell me where to locate this information?

I know that there aren't any housing opportunities or anything like that, but what about health care? What benefits are offered to military SPOUSES? we are getting married in February, and I just want some information. Don't be rude.

the military is very specific about this. No benefits until you are married. Health benefits especially. Now, if he has named you as next of kin and something happens to him God forbid...if you are named as his beneficiary then you may get some "death" benefits but lets not talk about that!!! No health benefits until you actually have the ring on your finger! sorry.

Until you are married, you are not eligable for any military benefits. Once you are married, and all the paperwork is filled out and turned in, you will be eligable for health care, access to the BX and commisary on any miliatary installation, eligable to be moved to live with your spouse if his orders allow it (some assignments do not allow families or spouses to go and of course), make your spouse eligable for housing money at the dependent rate and be eligable to live with your spouse in base housing. Keep in mind though that for the most part, any paperwork to get benefits will have to be done and submitted by your spouse, as will any requests for housing, arrangements for a move, etc. The only way a dependent can take care of these things is if the spouse is deployed and you have a power of attorney.

Right now you don't qualify for anything. But when you get married you get medical benifits, housing allowance, he will also recieve extra pay for having a dependent, you will recieve an ID card wich will give you access to bases and AAFES, commissary and other MWR activities or services. I don't know exactly where you can locate this...maybe on the DOD site. I hope this helps! If you have anymore question just ask!! I'm an Army wife so there is a good chance I know!!

None to fiances.

Once you are married and have an id card you will be able to shop at the px & commissary, use Tricare Health plans, United Concordia Dental, have access to base housing, Legal aide on post (limited) and others.

There is no reason for fiances to have benefits - even most civilian jobs don't extend benefits to girlfriends/intendeds.

You can check http://www.militarywives.com or http://www.myarmylifetoo.com or Military OneSource if you like but I don't think you will find out anything new.

you are entitled to nothing until you are married.

Once you are married, you will be eligible to get an ID card, which grants you access to the base and use of most base facilities. You can sign up for medical and dental. Dental is a monthly fee, Medical has no out of pocket costs if you sign up for Prime, but there are co pays and deductibles on Standard.

Other than that, not much else. your SPOUSE will be entitled to additional allowances in his pay for having dependents, but that money is not specifically for you..it is for him to provide for you. He will also be entitled to seek out Base housing if available.

None as a girl friend.

Once your married,

You will be allowed to sign up for Tricare( health insurance)

You will be issued an ID card.

Be eligible to live in quarters on post.

Shop on post at the post exchange and commissary.

And use any of the facilities on post, (chapel, recreation, polls, etc)

And thats about it.

The military doesn't grant benefits to spouses, the benefits go to the service member.

it USED to be...until 2001 that if you were engaged and your fiance was pregnant they covered prenatal care for her, because they did for a friend of mine. but low and behold late 2002 i got pregnant with my daughter (3 months before our scheduled wedding) and when we called tricare they told us they dont even do that anymore (too many people were abusing it by saying someone was pregnant with their child when she wasnt just to help a friend out) anyway....there is absolutely NO benefits for you at all until you say I do...no housing, no medical, no access to the base (unless he escorts you)..you cant even shop at the commisary or BX until your married. as for the medical benefits after you are married go to www.tricareonline.com and it will list all the benefits for dependents on medical insurance. also your husband can elect to pay extra for dependent dental care and $100k life insurance for you ( its like $26 a month for both)

You will have to wait until February. Until you are DEERS eligible (need marriage certificate for spouse), you will get nothing.

There are NO benefits available until you get married. You can be put on as beneficiary of his life insurance (SGLI) but that is about it. When you get married, he will get housing and food allowances and you will get medical coverage- not that that is a good thing being that military doctors are less than stellar much of the time
