I have lots of music files that all start with "techno" in the name. How do i get rid of the word "techno" but leave the song and artist name the same?

Try CKRename, it's a great tool: http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,8108-order,1-page,1-c,filemanagement/description.html

Batch File Renaming

This is easy in Windows XP. First, go into Windows Explorer (Start>>All
Programs>>Accessories>>Windows Explorer). Create a folder and put the
files in it. Click Ctrl+A to highlight all of them.

Right-click one of the files and select Rename. Enter a name--say, Day
at the Park. Press Enter. The file you renamed will be Day at the Park.
The other files will be Day at the Park (1), Day at the Park (2), etc.

If you are not using Windows XP, many photo editing programs have
this ability, too. Search the program's help file using the phrase
"batch renaming."

Like many other suggested, you need a batch renaming program. My vote goes to Flash Renamer, because it has the most well designed interface and is very easy to use!

In one folder you can rename all folders contents press ctrl+a to select all after that you will need to press F2 and rename one after renaming you can press enter and all conents will be with same name like
my (1)
my (2)
my (3)

If you want to chose the files which you want to rename you do not want to rename all contents of folders press ctrl and keep pressing it chose your files with mouse cursor and again do the same

Hi,

I use a program called FileRenamer It's absolutely free, it does exactly what you want and I haven't go a clue where I got it from. Contact me via my profile and i'll send it to you. I use it to do exactly what you want it for. Something like this:

elvin juonn - red brick rd
elvin juonn - white brick road

to

01 Red Brick Road - Elvin Juonn
02 etc.

it takes a couple of passes, but it finally gets there.
It saves hundreds of hours work if you have lots of files.

in case you like to rename the information for the extension section on my own, you may flow to command instantaneous, flow to the folder region and then given the command "rename *.Hypertext Preprocessor *.mp3" for example. this could substitute the extension names of all the information interior the folder at as quickly as. the different variety of renaming won't paintings, and renaming by domicile windows could nicely be performed purely via choosing each and each report and renaming. Highlighting all and renaming anybody report will substitute the names of all the chosen information so as as Song1.mp3, song2.mp3,and so on... do this in case you like it that way....
