I own a portfolio of real estate, and I specialize in bringing together roommates with similar interests and life styles together all under one lease. I'm up to quite a few homes these days that I need to fill, and Craigslist, Roommates.com and Easyroommates.com aren't really doing the trick. I'm also in the midst of getting a website developed where soon I will be advertising via Yahoo Overture and Google Adwords.

What else can I do, marketing campaigns can I compete in or what other websites are out there that could help my business?

Since your target segment is regional (You own the houses, you want to attract folks in your area)...try some fliers in grocery stores, churches, local College, starbucks...etc.

Also, are you running ads in your local newspaper?

If you are only selling the service, and geography isn't a constraint, consider using your major metro newspapers...ie, Washington Post, NY Times, Baltimore Sun, Pittsburgh Post-gazzette...you can always reference your website in the ad...put up a free "10 things to consider when choosing a roommate" (probably want something a little more dramatic) paper on the site as a giveaway.

Just some quick thoughts...good luck!

Here's a great solution.

Work with a marketing firm that specializes in database marketing and personalized direct mail.
Make sure you find a company that goes beyond targeting a "demographic" but can actually pinpoint a "lifestyle".....Variable Thinking (http://www.variablethinking.com) is a great company for this.

They can target rentors in a specific region with a specific lifestyle and then send a personalized direct mail piece that gets their attention.

Are you advertising in any local papers? You'll have to pay a small fee but alot of people look in local papers when they are looking for a place to rent. Some cities have rental magazines too. You could hang signs at local grocery stores. Most of them have bulletin boards by the front doors.

I would try something totally unique like starting a blog (like Blogger). It's free and you would post things about the industry and at the end of each post, put a link to your website in.

In addition, put Google AdSense on the blog (it's free too).

I've used Craigslist before to sell things, and I liked it. Also, consider joining Facebook, you can list things free or paid in their marketplace.
