Actually the greatest trick devil ever pulled was the disappearance of Atlantis. The audience went wild and all that, people asked how it was done, and I even think someone tried to prove it was a set up. The trick was so good, that Atlantis hasn't appeared today. Man, that devil sure is good at that.

Many religions have a "evil/trickster god" but not all religions have the same concept of a tempter. Christianity comes from Judaism, and draws its beliefs about the devil from there. The strange thing is that Satan has evolved through time i.e. in Job, most likely the first or second bible book written, Satan is a angel that brings enlightenment to or tests the faithful. Over the years he changes into a rebel that was kicked out of heaven,

Jewish, Christianity and Islam all worship Satan, and they don't even know it. They think that Rev 13:10-18 is an event of the future, but do they really think this, or is it that they know the truth, and believe in the truth, and because they believe, would rather serve Satan.
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Matt 6:19-24

He doesn't exist. The whole concept of a separated being that regulates and monitors our naughties is lame and probably started off as a bedtime story used to shut kids up. It should have never been handed to those who may turn it into yet another reason to go kill someone or oppress someone, as the results are obviously very negative. It takes the blame away from the character who really IS responsible according to their faith...

Because that way, if you say he doesn't exist, they can say your are being deceived by him. The whole thing becomes a wrap-around Catch-22.
I, personally, do not believe in a devil.

None are in greater danger from the influence of evil spirits than those who, notwithstanding the direct and ample testimony of the Scriptures, deny the existence and agency of the devil and his angels. So long as we are ignorant of their wiles, they have almost inconceivable advantage; many give heed to their suggestions while they suppose themselves to
be following the dictates of their own wisdom. This is why, as we approach the close of time, when Satan is to work with greatest power to deceive and destroy, he spreads everywhere the belief that he does not exist. It is his policy to conceal himself and his manner of working.
There is nothing that the great deceiver fears so much as that we shall become acquainted with his devices. To better disguise his real character and purposes, he has caused himself to be so represented as to excite no stronger emotion than ridicule or contempt. He is well pleased to be painted as a ludicrous or loathsome object, misshapen, half animal and half human. He is pleased to hear his name used in sport and mockery by those who think themselves intelligent and well informed.
It is because he has masked himself with consummate skill that the question is so widely asked: "Does such a being really exist?" It is an evidence of his success that theories giving the lie to the plainest testimony of the Scriptures are so generally received in the religious world. And it is because Satan can most readily control the minds of those who are unconscious of his influence, that the word of God gives us so many examples of his malignant work, unveiling before us his secret forces, and thus placing us on our guard against his assaults.
The power and malice of Satan and his host might justly alarm us were it not that we may find shelter and deliverance in the superior power of our Redeemer. We carefully secure our houses with bolts and locks to protect our property and our lives from evil men; but we seldom think of the evil angels who are constantly seeking access to us, and against whose attacks we have, in our own strength, no method of defense. If permitted, they can distract our minds, disorder and torment our bodies, destroy our possessions and our lives. Their only delight is in misery and destruction. Fearful is the condition of those who resist the divine claims and yield to Satan's temptations, until God gives them up to the control of evil spirits. But those who follow Christ are ever safe under His watchcare. Angels that excel in strength are sent from heaven to protect them. The wicked one cannot break through the guard which God has stationed about His people."

yes it is true, because if you don't believe the devil than it is easier to think it is God that is doing harm. Not to mention the whole red suit with a pitchfork.
