I would take a good hard look at what has changed in your life ...

...a new strenuous school schedule?
....a new intense job?
....perhaps the discovery of answering questions on yahoo?
....losing a loved one?

There are many things that can keep us up at night. Usually, it's just the fact that we can't shut our minds down to carry on with our sleep. Figure out what is on your mind when you're awake for hours at a time. If you can't think of anything, contact a physician as it is probably due to some physiological change in your body! :)

I live with insomnia. The positive aspect is that I'm retired and don't have to be at my desk at a certain time. When I can't sleep (which is at least three or four nights a week) I get up and get busy doing something, most anything. I do a couple loads of laundry; I read; I crochet; I surf the net; I mop the kitchen and bathroom; I cook for the next day. And I do not nap in the day because then I am set up to not sleep at night.

Insomnia is often caused by fear, stress, anxiety, medications, herbs, caffeine, depression or sometimes for no apparent reason. Make sure your bedroom is quiet and dark. Soak a tablespoon of mint leaves in a cup of water for an hour, drink every night. Check out http://useinfo-insomnia.blogspot.com/ for more info

try this: shower your legs with very cold water right before you want to go to bed and sleep. exercise in the morning, and if you can again in the early evening. think about what has happened in your life that brought about the insomnia and find alternative ways of dealing with stuff. if you catch yourself having worrying thoughts when you try to go to sleep, try to slow down your inner voice and alter the sound of it to a very mellow one; that will put you to sleep just like a boring presentation. Good luck and please let me know if that helped.

First and foremost take no naps at all during the day, get some excersize, cut out caffine! This could help you also a nice warm bath before bedtime!
