Unfortunately it's permissable. Happily it's laughable!

Christians should get involved in government in order to bring a Godly influence.
We are to be salt and light in a dark world. The scriptures are talking about not living sinfully or as the world lives. See Psalm 1.
Church and state should remain separate, but that does not mean that those who love Jesus cannot work in politics.
We need a voice against abortion and other wrong things that our governments call legal.

Should Christians vote? Yes. Should they run for office? Yes. Should they be allowed to make policies and laws? Yes.
Christians should have the same rights to participate in politics and government as any one. The problems arise when Christian citizens become militant about issues and vote on based on what someone says he is, than on what the issues are. When these Christian groups back a politician and basically say that "If you love Jesus, vote for___" then they have overstepped their role.
Christians shouldn't be so militant about making sure that this country doesnt legalize immorality. The world is going to crap and Christians should be more concerned about PEOPLE and not ISSUES.

We are in the world but not of it. It is our mission to represent Christ before a dying world. We can influence those around us and it is our responsibility to be good citizens wherever we are. We have rights as citizens (in America, England, and Australia, at least) to vote our conscience. It is a moral duty. Depending on the way we conduct ourselves in public, we have a right to rally together in peaceful prayer. The only thing you need to do to allow evil men to do evil is to do nothing. While we are in the world, we must do all we can to spread the Gospel, and help our country honor God with it's laws. Yes, I think that's generally a good thing, but only if it is done in a peaceful way.

Democratic government encourages people to group together in order to push thier own agenda through. That is where the parties originated, along with lobbies. Whether we like it or not, the major religions of the world are always going to be involved in politics, as they always have been.

We are to have no part of this world...( La's Vegas life style as example)
we are to be a light unto the world..so yes we should be in politics...it would be dangerous to allow unbelievers to dictate how believers can live their life's...it would be Rome all over again...

It's fine for different faiths to be involved in the government, as long as they realize that their duty is to society at that point. This means that they should not push their morals into laws and that schools should teach facts.

Be in the world but not of it. Everyone brings their personal beliefs and values to the table, whether they are religious or not. Everyone casts a vote by their values. Not getting involved is worse.

Yes Christians should get involved in politics. If they do not it won't be long before the Christian religion will no longer exist.

Christians should only be involved in government if non-Christians are involved in government. Otherwise, Christians should stay out.
Of course, if you're a totalitarian freak like Stalin, Pol Pot, or Kim Jong Il, you'd just want to ban Christians from government, altogether.

Don't they say that all governments are put in place by God etc?
I think many US right-wing religionists literally see politics as just a continuation of their 'good vs evil' , 'black vs white' (with us or against us) war that constitutes both their religon and consequently their entire worldview.
i.e. Democrats = evil, Republican = good.
