If you met someone that told you that you must believe them, follow them and do everything they said "OR" they would send you to hell and burn you forever night and day forever.

What kind of "Friend" would that be?

Is this what Jesus taught?

What if you had a friend who taught love thy neighbor, and then pushed you out of the way of a bus... knowing it would kill him instead of you....
That would be the best friend to have, wouldn't it. It would validate that he practiced what he preached, wouldn't it?
and if you were to pizz on his grave, and laugh at what a stupid idiot he was for giving his life for you or anyone else, that would make you a jerk... wouldn't it?
and if his Dad caught you pizzing on his son's grave... what do you think he would do to you?
Flip side of the coin for you to consider.

Your "question" is just a way to get on a soapbox and pop off your opinion rather than to seek what other people think.

No that is not what Jesus taught. What kind of twisted garbage are they telling you wherever you are?
Jesus taught that there was a broad path and a narrow path and He is the only way to perfect peace and AT ONE MENT with God.
It is not a question of "do this or go to hell" it is "if you don't do this you will continue on the road that leads to destruction" - it is an offer of hope.
Perhaps you don't feel lost and your life is hopeless. In that case you must not need salvation which must mean you are perfect. At the end of your life if you lived without making one mistake and without regretting anything, please let me know because you must be perfect.

John 12
46I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

47And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

48He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

would that friend die on a cross in the most painful way possible to show me the love he has for me and take away all my sins, and promise me heaven upon my death, where i will inherit more than you could ever imagine? probably not, and no, thats not what jesus did, he came and warned us of hell, that there are only 2 places in the after life, you can accept him, simple as that and when you die you can live with him and enjoy eternal bless or you can say no thank you , i'd rather not, i'll take my chances else where, and then the only other place to go is hell. i think jesus did a wonderful thing, coming here, warning us of what lies in store if we don't trust him, dying for our sins, making a wonderful home for us to go to after we die. he loves us, the least we can do is love him back.

The lake of fire was made even before man's creation. This was a fact in existence even before man sinned. Man was not created for hell but rather he was made in God's image and likeness to contain and express this God who created Him on the earth. He bore God's authority and dominion to carry out God's eternal purpose. This man was usurped and corrupted by satan. Yet God will not stop there. Even when Adam and Eve sinned He made a way for them through the provision of a lamb that not only covered their sin but also coverned their nakedness.

Today many present the gospel as heaven or hell. But how did the Lord present himself? He was introduced even by John the Baptist as " the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world"...( Jn 1:29)

The Lord knows that because man decided to side with God's enemy in the garden that the result of choosing this way would righteously lead to death. You cannot change the wages of sin.. it will always be death. An apple tree does not bear bananas, no matter how much you try, its a principle.

What we need to realize is that God did not leave man there to perish. He paid the highest price in order to reach and redeem man back from satan's ururpation. So that this man would have a way to be freed and able to carry out what he was created for and have a fulfilled existence on the earth.

Even to this day satan will keep man bound. Bound in his mind, in his situations, and by blinding sin in order for man to not have a turn to God. Even to see God as this horrible person and question God's heart for us. Always trying to twist our thinking to accuse God and put Him and His intentions in a negative light.

We each know in our own personal life the way that the gospel was presented to us. Of my own I never present it by way of heaven or hell. These are facts, but the real matter at hand is God's eternal salvation He has afforded to us. Our christian life is not based on escaping hell and going to heaven to live.. this is too low and not the gospel.

God predestinated us for higher, deeper things. May all our eyes be unveiled to see the light of the Glorious gospel of Jesus Christ. That our being will be open to Him so that He can have a way to come in and transform our inward being. Conforming us from glory to glory into His own image. That as the New Creation we can be God's dwelling place and bride on the earth. This One New Man that will deal a death blow to satan.

Our real pray should be .. Lord rescue so many more out of darkness. Transfer more out from the Kingdom of darkness where there is no light to even see truth from lie and bring more into the Kingdom of the Son of God's love..

The Lord did speak of hell ..even of the outer darkness..but this was not his gospel... His gospel was the He came that we might have life and have it abundantly. That there is a thief who will steal kill and destroy us. He was a friend enough to warn us ahead of time but some of us take that warning as a threat and miss the whole point totally. May this not be the choice of those on this forum....

Good q...
gives us a lot to consider even in ourselves.

No, Jesus didn't teach this, Jesus taught love! Religion teaches this kind of misinformation.

No that is not what Jesus taught.

The people who compiled the bible created this idea to subvert the teachings of Jesus.

Do a little research and you will see the truth.

If I believed him I would live in constant fear. If I didn't I'd think he was a great joker or a little crazy. If he was a true friend and people said that about him I'd think they were trouble makers and would not want to be around them. I'd stick up for my friend and let people know that he'd never do anything so sick.

Jesus spoke of hell.......He described it as a place where there will be weeping & gnashing of teeth (torment).

There is only one way to heaven.....and it's through the Lord Jesus Christ.

Acts 4:12 “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”

Hating God only destroys yourself.
That's obvious since God is the creator.
There is no "neutral" - only love or hate.
Hating who you are (as God's creation)
is destructive to each individual.

It can't be compared to human relationships.
