Imagine . . .
Well, for one thing, people would be able to understand one another rather better, because they would all be interested in reason and logic, in facts and evidence and things like that. The concept of believing things that fly in the face of evidence would fall into disuse. And there would no longer be such a concept as "sin," but only crime or error or wrong-doing. That is, things which can be dealt with on a rational basis.
John Lennon was right on all but one point: "Imagine no possessions" does not follow. The idea that nothing would be your own personal property, to keep where you could find it when you wanted it, simply does not work unless in a rather rigidly ruled closed system such as a monastery. Ever live with college students in a co-operative or commune setting? Squabbles all the time! Tweedledee an Tweedledum every day.

Religion is the moral backbone of our lives and a motivation to stick to the path of righteousness and ward off the evil. No religion only sounds like good news for devil, not for human beings. With the concept of religion around, atleast you can stop someone from commiting a sin by showing him fear of LORD, THE ALMIGHTY. Not that any criminal stops beacuse of it but we always have a possibility . In absence of a religion, you can only have a society sans the basic do's and don'ts making survival fit for animals and devil alone.

UTTER CHAOS! If you think the world's bad now wait till the people around the world now being restrained by religion and morality completly let go. Life wont even be worth living then.
Besides people cannot not live without religon- they'll always invent something.

I think that if there were no religion now, we would be fine--perhaps even better off, but people should be free to believe what they want.
I do believe that many of the advances we enjoy today came about through religion, though...case in point, reading and writing--if Gutenberg hadn't wanted to print Bibles, would we still be copying things by hand? If Christians hadn't finally decided that slavery was NOT biblical, would it exist much more around the world?
Religion served as a unifying force for some terrible things, but also for some very good ones. I think it was necessary for it to exist for us to get to this point in our civilization. But, it may have outlived its usefulness now that we value education for its own merits, and not merely as a way to understand God.

There would be no need for morals, because nobody would even consider any kind of eternal consequences.
It would all be "Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we die."
Oh, as far as wars, there would be more - just look at WW I and WW II - these had nothing whatsoever to do with religion, but territorial disputes! And even the wars described in the Bible were usually not because of "religion", but because "Your land is nicer than mine, so I want it, so I will take it"!!!!!

If there was no religion in the world some greedy cynical goof would start one. As long as there are gullibles willing to pay for being told what to believe there will be con artists willing to collect their donations.
If you doubt this just look at the hyper-religious USA and the rate at which it spawns new religions and cults. That is in a culture already loaded with religions, but also well supplied with gullibles.

Religion is not worshipping god. Worshipping god is just a initial stage in it. Religion is actually ways to perfect yourself and become divine. You are divine, we all are divine.
Religion is to realise the self.
Thats it.
If no religion what would happen?

I honestly believe that things will get even worse, despite the sad parts in the history of some religions, and despite what people have to say about it. Religion supplies people with strong motivation to get their act together, even though a lot of people get it all wrong.

as a new student of Wicca, i would tell you that my religion, is most important to me, and I can practice in my home, alone, and no one could take it away from me. There would be utter chaos, killings, rapings, babies being murdered in the streets, ppl would cease to help one another, ppl would cease to be good to one another. I tell ya,it would be utter chaos.
