Why is humankind so obsessed with the Truth? No other mammal has this deep yearning for it like humans do. We strive after it for the most part of our lives. If something is not true, then it is 'wrong'. Why do we feel this way? And why do we also choose to escape reality for a couple of hours, buying into a movie or book of fiction?

You asked me this yesterday, and I have meditated on it. We all follow a path in life, and if led by that which is not true, then it would become a serious detour, and even detrimental to Life. To seek Truth is to seek Purpose! Why am I here. The holy books state it accurately that the lie is Death personified.
Ergo to seek Truth (Purpose) is Life! To perpetuate untruth is Death.

Because we are created in the image of God. That part of us which is connected to Him desires and seeks the truth. Many of us deny the very essence of our being by dumbing down our nature to the level of mere animal. This results in a decision to deny the truth.

The truth is absolute. We can try to change our perspective or the perspective of others so the truth is obscured...but it cannot change the truth...it remains pure and constant.

In today's world our perception of truth is that it is relative. I've actually heard people say...'well that may be true for you but not for me." Okay...but that doesn't change the fact of the truth does it?

Let's say I commit a murder. I'm in court on the witness stand and I lie about the facts and persuade the jury that I am innocent. They find me not guilty and set me free. Has the truth be altered in any way? No...all that has been altered is the jury's perception of the truth. They believe they know the truth but they do not. The truth is there, it remains absolute.

As far as escaping reality...it's called entertainment.

Striving for the truth is what makes us learn, grow, and advance both individually and as a species.
We seek temporary diversion in escapist entertainment because all this constant striving for truth gets emotionally exhausting and it's refreshing to take in a pleasant fiction every now and then.

Once a truth seeker, always a truth seeker.

for many its in search of our higher self.

truth is not wrong, each of us have our own truth, only judgment do we make it wrong or right. truth has no real judgment.

essences of who we all are is truth and the escape is in the letting go of those things that are really not important but have been given alot of meaning.

There is no room for pure consciousness to hold any one thought. ever so brief its a relief going to the other side to see our true self. "the mind is not who we really are" we are so much more.............reality/fiction is what we buy our self into.

hugs/love.............thank you for asking.

The Qur'an teaches us that the human race is given an innate spirituality are inherent in human existence,
but this spirituality can betray us if it is not led in the right direction. To depend on a merely human
feeling of the guiding Spirit is dangerous. Many groups, even cults, claim to be guided by the spirit or
by God or by revelation, yet these groups hold divergent, even contradictory, beliefs. We find people
behaving in contradictory ways who claim nonetheless that each is doing the will of God. "I feel," they
say, "that the spirit guides and directs me."

A credible source of revelation is imperative. Throughout history Allah has selected particular
individuals to convey His message, to receive His revelation and to exemplify it for mankind

God provides us with the purpose of our existence and if we seek to do good it is the same as seeking to do the will of God. Your belief in God only has value in so far as you live your life according to His purpose for you.

How then do we know what is the will of God? That is where religion comes in. GOD has revealed His will through prophets. To find out what this is you need to study the revelation.

Because we intuit that truth is reality.

Escaping reality through fiction or other entertainment is fine because we know that it's not real. But there is something in us (non-mentally ill people) that instinctually knows that a life based on non-reality will not make us happy.

Define truth.....

There are those who accept a state of existence where everything makes sense to that living organism, however this state is not necessarily the truth.

It is funny that people spend lifetimes searching and searching for that elusive Truth, when it is everywhere and in everything. The harder you look, the more elusive it is. That should say something about Truth.

The truth is important as a gauge for how effective we are at lying.

It's our nature to be curious. We strive to understand all that we can. In trying to understand, we are actually searching for truth.
