People are against the troops and claim that they " Don't Support the troops" yet these people also don't support compulsory conscription. As a military wife I often wonder what would become of the world if my husband who has volunteered to serve in the military so that others may have the freedom to live and do what they wish in a free country and not have to worry about being conscripted. What would happen if my husband took to heart all the nasty comments being said to the troops and took a job as a salesman. Who would protect our precious country if all the troops quit? Would these people who don't support the troops step up and take their place or would they hide themselves away in their homes from the violence which would errupt in the streets. I often wonder what sort of troops these people would make if they were conscripted. Just because you don't agree with the government doesn't mean that our troops shouldn't be supported for the job that they have stepped up to do.

No, unfortunately these "enlightened" folks wouldn't do a damn thing to protect themselves. Our societey has become a "me first" "I want it now" societey. These folks, say they support the troops, but if they truly did they would support their mission as well.

Thank you for your husbands and your service.

LOL, you used the word "conscription." What is this the conscript Army of the former Soviet Union? Who are you, King Edward discussing battle plans for your invasion of Northern Ireland?

Without troops we'd turn into a nation that watches that movie The Notebook 24/7. Hollywood would be forced to make The Notebook sequels. The user Ellen who answered your question has a fake looking rack.

First thing those fools would do is devide up the military budget for pet social programs.
Then they'd have to surrender to the first attacker.

The MILITARY is the biggest SOCIAL PROGRAM we have and it protects all the others.

I support the troops, it's not their fault Bush is a warmonger. However, they have the ability to refuse an order, face court martial and not participate in this meaningless war. Fighting for a cause - patriotic and American as apple pie...fighting for an agenda, to spread your democracy and to seize power is akin to the Third Reich. We are fighting a BS war...
